Woman calls for boob job doc to be struck off

A BOOB job patient today called for a North surgeon who botched her post-op care to be struck off.

The Sunday Sun revealed how Andrea Scott was left with a patchwork of scars after undergoing procedures at Dr Ashish Dutta’s Tyneside clinic.

Last week the experienced surgeon – who claims to have carried out more than 140 successful breast augmentation procedures – was suspended for the way he handled Andrea’s post-op care.

Now Andrea has contacted watchdogs to file a formal complaint and said she was furious with the decision not to strike him off the register.

The 32-year-old, who lives in Consett, Country Durham, with her partner Aaron, 46, and co-runs the Talk Plan Solutions Ltd mobile phone company, said: “I’m furious.

“ I’ve spoken to the General Medical Council and they will look at the case.

“If they think the decision is wrong they will refer it to the court to see if they can get it changed.

“My life has been turned upside down and Dr Dutta has escaped with a suspension. It is so unfair.”

Andrea shelled out more than £4,500 to even out the size of her breasts in January 2010, after undergoing surgery for a gastric bypass and a tummy tuck two years earlier.

But after having the op, which was carried out by another surgeon, the stitches on her left breast burst open and her implants began sagging from the wound.

Andrea said she suffered an 18-month post-op nightmare after enduring four separate operations by Dr Dutta to correct the procedure.

Following a hearing before the Medical Practitioners Tribunal, chairman Reverend Robert Lloyd-Richards branded Dr Dutta’s actions a risk to patients and said his “behaviour included elements of abuse of position/trust and of putting your own interests above those of your patient”.

The doctor was suspended for 12 months. In an exclusive interview with the Sunday Sun, Dr Dutta apologised for his part in Andrea’s blundered care.

But he said he was acting out of compassion and could never have envisaged the failings.
