Itchy scars!!
I'm 12 days post op now and my scars (particularly at the bottom where my vertical incision meets the crease) are really itchy! They dont feel infected/inflammed itchy but the kinda itchy you get when a scab is healing! Its being made worse by the band of the Macom sitting over my lipo wounds which are in the same place! Its driving me mad and wondered if u had any ideas to help. I still have quite a bit of bruising underneath and some brusing near my sutures on the side of my left breast but I think I'm healing ok! Uploaded some new pics on my picturetrail and some close ups of my scars. Boobs are staying up though! I keep having nightmares that I'm gonna wake up and they will be down by my knees again! No pencil holding for me at the moment! When I was pre-op I could hold the whole pencilcase!!

Re: Itchy scars!!
You can stick a panty liner or sanitary towel against the bra to help stop the band irritating you hun. The itching isn't nice I know....
Have you been been given the all clear to shower yet? Massage scars?
Generally when you can shower and start to moisturise scars they start to feel a little better. xx

Re: Itchy scars!!
I can shower and I can moisturise the surrounding skin but I have to keep my scars covered with tape for 3 months! The tape I had put on during the op is still on and I am suppossed to change it every 3 weeks so it wont be coming off for another week and a half! The reason for this is to prevent lumpy scars and also my surgeon uses surgical glue so its just extra protection while my skin heals!

Thanks hun! I'm gonna try the sanitary towel idea too!! My fella is just gonna laugh his head off when he sees me though!! Dunno how he still finds me attractive after the thigh high DVT stockings, the paper knickers, the gown and the support bra and now I'm gonna have sanitary towels in my bra!!!

Re: Itchy scars!!
Do you think it could be because the scars need a bit more air to them? I'm no expert but I would have thought things heal better once they have some air to them! I was told to take my steri-strips off after 12 days and have felt better since then being able to wash them etc! It's strange isn't it how each surgeon has such a different way of doing things. Touch wood mine aren't itchy...yet x

Re: Itchy scars!!
Anti-histamine works wonders
Don't remove any dressings / steri-strips unless advised by your PS to do so xx You need the exact opposite of air getting to them in the early stages xx the dressings are put on in a controlled sterile environment, if you remove them too soon you risk the transfer of bacteria to the open wounds / incisions xx
ONLY do what YOUR PS has advised xx

Yeah the tape is still on! I'm sitting on my hands trying to stop myself from touching!! The right side underneath looks a little pink, it doesnt look infected or anything like that but I'm keeping a close eye on it now and if it doenst improve or it gets any worse I'll be on the phone to my ps right away!
