Going through the motions
I have my post-op tomorrow... A post-op with no date for surgery?????
I have a feeling I'm just going through this because maybe they didn't get further than my surgeon asking if the surgery could proceed and because I've been harassing them lately, this is the only way to close my case...
I just don't feel confident at all about this...
I can't remember now, but for those who had blood tests, when were the results back? and how long from the pre-op did you get the all clear or were told there was a problem?

Re: Going through the motions
I can see why you may be thinking that way. I didnt have bloods so cant help there, sorry.
Hopefully you can ask them some straight questions tomorrow. firstly, how can hey do a pre op before there's an op booked??? Will you be seeing you pcc tomorrow too?

Yes, I agree, ask what the purpose of this "pre-op" is. And then don't leave tomorrow unless they've allowed you to book!! (if that's what you ultimately decide you want)

Re: Going through the motions
It does seem A little strange to get you in for a Pre-op without a surgery date. If it is the normal drill for bloods and they then surely the info will be outdated if its nOt just a week before surgery? Unless its a different type if Pre-op?x

Re: Going through the motions
Aw cookie, I never had the blood tests either, but I also wanted to wish you luck. I'm sure they just want to get the pre op out of the way to make sure your ok before they agree on a surgery date. I know you've had disappointments before so it's not easy trying not to worry. But I really hope they aren't messing you about hun and that they are just doing everything they can to get a surgery date set up for you.

Re: Going through the motions
Thanks for the good luck wishes girls and Butterfly for the week time scale...
I just have had this nagging feeling that I can't shake off that this isn't going ahead
I have a list of questions I want answering tomorrow along with another appointment to see Mr P. So I'm hoping I'll have more to tell you tomorrow. xx

fingers crossed for you cookie, hope you get all your questions answered
Re: Going through the motions
Just to add 'cos that post sounds a little confusing. I don't have an appointment with Mr P tomorrow, I want one made LOL.
I'm not scheduled to see a PCC but I won't move until I do see one. I want answers.
Having this post-op makes no sense at all to me with no surgery date attached to it .
It's doing my head in. I'd rather they just said the other day that there's no way this can go through if they are messing me around.
I really do appreciate the support girls. This has been such a long haul and I've remained really strong right the way through, but I'm at the end of my tether now... I just want a positive answer one way or another, xx

Re: Going through the motions
Ah I see, I had got myself confused. Yes I agree and would want to see the surgeon tomorrow and get your yes or no answer. It isn't fair to mess you about and I would stay there until I got an answer too.
Re: Going through the motions
Stay positive hun and give yourself some of the wonderful words of advise and wisdom you give us girls Will be thinking of your tomorrow. xxxxxxxx

Re: Going through the motions
There's not that many positive signs just yet aside from a pre-op... but then I don't have an op to go to yet Lucky LOL, so it's a little hard to get positive just yet.
We'll see what tomorrow brings and thank you. xx
Sorry for the confusion misf1. I confuse myself too xx

Re: Going through the motions
Tomorrow isn't long to wait now and then hopefully you can come out a little clearer.
The pcc has the surgeons diary so I don't she why she can't book you in with the surgeon if you see her tomorrow the same as every body else.
All the best for tomorrow, you go get em! ;) x

Re: Going through the motions
Just home from my pre-op... Nurse said a pre-op is good for 6 months!
Anyway, all went well, the nurse said she could see no problem with sorting a date out for me today and would get that arranged for me. She took bloods, said my heart rate was a little tachycardic but blood pressure was fine then went out the room to sort out a date, requested we wait a moment in the waiting area, then was called to reception only to be told that they couldn't give me a date today, I have to wait for Lindsay Mullins to approve my surgery
I was on the understanding that everything had been approved, the surgeon had given me the green light, the anesthetist had given me the green light, everything was good to go, this was why I was having a 'pre-op'!!!!
I asked how long I'd have to wait for Lindsay to respond and the receptionist was very polite and threw off the sentence... "Ohhhh just a couple of days"... "but give me a call on monday"
Mondays longer than a couple of days love!!!
So she said if she hasn't heard anything by monday, to keep calling because Lindsay will soon get fed up of them chasing up for us
This just isn't good enough! Nut I was told this step is simply procedure... it's the first time I've NEVER heard of this happening this late after 'approval' was supposedly given!
I just don't know what to think right now, at the moment I don't feel any closer really to getting this sorted.
I made an appointment to see Mr Persico though on the 1st of November, because any surgery is out of the question for me in October, it's our busiest month of the year work wise and I want my husband with me, so IF I do get the all clear, then hopefully the surgery will be 'this year'!
Apparently, they hold surgery slots open to fit re-op appointments in, so they should be able to get me in soon..... We'll see. Im not holding my breath that's for sure. xx

Re: Going through the motions
Thanks Butterfly , to say I'm p*ssed off right now would be an understatement!
The lack of organisation, or the poor nurse not being in on them fobbing me off (she did say she was filling in for someone) is just atrocious.
So now I've yet another week of waiting... *siggghhhhhh* xx

Re: Going through the motions
hi cookie, i'm hopeful this will mean you will get your re op sooner rather than later. it's awful having the added stress on what is obviously a very anxious time. i find it very odd that the nurse has said your pre op is valid for 6 months. with the majority of the cosmetic surgery companies, the common theme seems for it to be done around 2 weeks prior, but can be as little as 3 days. i believe negative mrsa swab results to be valid for upto 18 weeks (which is not 6 months). however, im not sure if the 18 week validation to hold true if you spend alot of time in hospital for other reasons xx

Re: Going through the motions
Thanks dollydaydream
From the women we've had here. I've known them having to repeat re-ops only weeks after if there had been a problem, but, yeah, that's what I was told today I was concerned about me having the pre-op today with no op date, hence my reason for asking, my husband even repeated the question and we were again told not to worry, the pre-op would be fine for 6 months. I didn't need to have MRSA swabs though because it's been over a year since I last had a hospital stay.
Do you work in area of cosmetic surgery?

Oh cookie, I can't swear word believe it. That's really bad of them to do this. I hope they get back to you soon. I'd give them one day then get on the phone, why should you have to wait until Monday.
