[question from Eeeeek] deposit refundable?
Eeeeek wrote:basically I've put down a deposit with Harley Medical Group & have
been given advice saying there are better surgeons out there! I've been
told Patrick Malucci is one of the top in the UK...
I am so confused and feel so stupid that I put down a £500 deposit with HMG.

You generally have a 2 week cooling off period when booking your
surgery. How long ago was it that you put your deposit down Eeeeek?

You can't, the HMG £500 deposit is non-refundable x

The IHAS (Independent Healthcare Advisory Service) has had a huge crackdown on clinics doing just this sort of thing, it's no longer acceptable for this to happen, along with the 'buy one procedure and we'll offer another' kind of of offer.. the bargains created to draw you in.
If they refuse to repay your deposit back (if it is within the 2 week period) tell them you'll be contacting the IHAS about this.
I'm unsure if the law has been passed yet to protect women from unscrupulous clinics like this, but it's damn well worth a try sweetie. I know for a fact the big boys of this industry are after them for just this kind of thing! xx

Avoid surgeons who act like salesmen. “Professional expertise might lead
surgeons to recommend different surgery,” says Louise Braham, director
of The Harley Medical Group. “For example, you might get better results
from a breast lift and boob job, than boob job alone. But surgeons
should only discuss the areas you’re enquiring about. If you go in for a
boob job but find yourself being sold a tummy tuck, be wary. And
remember that, legally, there’s a 14-day cooling-off period, so if you
sign up then change your mind, you get your deposit back.”

I remember one lady here was refused her deposit back as she was over her cooling off period, but they did allow her to use it toward another procedure I believe she may have used it toward teeth whitening or something. But I would really try and get it back even if you have to take them to small claims court.
