advice please with smoking
hi, i am due to have my BA on the 8th Oct at Riverside
My surgeon told me that I have to stop smoking for 4 weeks before.I have stopped smoking but with the help of 1 mg lozenges ( about 5 a day). I have now read that you have to go completely cold turkey , no quit aids etc as the nicotine in your system causes problems . I know I can do it but can I just carry on as I am finding it easier then I thought. Any advice please?

My advice was to cut down 2 weeks before and absolutely nothing for 48 hours before. I didn't manage to cut down as my BA all happened so quickly I didn't get chance to sort out my mind. So I just stopped and went cold turkey 48hrs before... It was hell!
You sound like your doing great so far, from what I've read the nicotine interfers with the healing process, which you aren't doing yet. If you have managed to stop cigerettes with 1mg lozenges 5 times a day you are well on your way! I'm sure you will be able to ween yourself off them before the big day x x x

Hello and welcome to BJSF Jakki
If you're finding it easy so far lovely, then the best thing for you and your new boobs to do now is to quit the lozengers and give your body the very best change of a good recovery and also lowering the risk of complications... You already seem to know the dangers of continueing taking the nicotine substitutes so I won't go on, but to say, well done Jakki, you're doing great! and if you need a shoulder to lean on whilst you completely stop, then we're here to support you hun....anytime! xx

yay!!!!!! W're right behind you Jackie!
You should get yourself a couple of tickers up in your signature... 1 for your countdown for your surgery date and another for how many days you've quit smoking!!!
Oh and you can also add your surgery details to our 'Calender Entries' forum Jakki (not the actual calender) and then we can all send on our good luck wishes on your special day!
And if you'd like to, we also have a 'Say Hello' section of the forum, just to introduce yourself and tell us a little about you, I know all the girls would love to give you a big Breast Buddies welcome! xx
