One week post op check up!
Hi ladies,
Cannot believe its a week tomorrow since my Ba! I have my post op check up at half 1 tomorrow and just wondered what will happen? Will my incisions be covered up again or can I eventually go for a proper shower at last haha?
xx

Re: One week post op check up!
It all depends on your own healing Lisa.
Most get to have their first shower after their check-up, but some need a little more time before their incisions are healed enough to get wet.
Dressings also depend on healing, for most the dressings get removed and the steri-strips might be left on and you 'might' be advised to change your steri-strips yourself over a week or so... You may also have any stitches that have worked their way to the top snipped too, but it doesn't hurt and the nurses are very gentle.
Some will have to have the dressings replaced though and be asked to return in a couple of days to a week to get checked again, this isn't anything at all to be concerned about, it's just some of us take a little longer to heal than others.
You also have an opportunity at this appointment to air any concerns you might have with the surgeon/nurse and if you do have any, do ensure that they're 'written' in your notes.
Any questions at all you might have about your recovery, write them down so you don't forget to ask hun. It's very exciting getting dressings removed and you can very well loose sight of the actual questions you wanted to ask lol, so writing them down just helps you with that and will help put your mind at ease later. xx
