one week post op check up

i ve just got back from the hospital and had all the tape removed and the steri strips on my inscisions replaced, the nurses werent overly helpful (although they were lovely and kind) apparently i dont need to see them again i just need to keep replacing the steri strips for the next 2 weeks (but they werent overly sure???) and apparently i will see the surgeon at about 8 weeks post op, they said i can shower now and said that in a couple of weeks i can wear a normal bra for a few hours if i m going out somewhere, i think i will leave it until 6 weeks until i wear a normal bra but i feel a bit confused now xxx

Hmmm sounds like they were very sure of what you should, can and cant do. Not surprised your confused! X

yeah they seemed to be guessing everything lol but i spose i just need to be sensible and if doing something hurts then i ll stop doing it and i ll hold off of sleeping flat until the last little bit of swelling disappears xxx

And if U shower make sure its completely dry before putting new dressing on. X

hi hun i just got back from my 1st check up (even though its day 11!) i was told to wait until day 14 for a shower, then let water run over boobs, get out towel dry then remove steri strips, dry incisions completely with a hairdryer then apply a new strip to each boob. Do this until all your strips are gone whether you are showering daily or every other day. (i got 3 pairs of strips). When you remove them they may have scabs on or a spot of blood but this is normal as you have removed a scab. its its green or yellow then contact your hospital.
Sleep upright until day 14 then you can start to lower your pillows.

Hope that makes your appt a bit clearer. x

Ive been told the same as cazalino except that they said after my first check up.i can shower and i shuld wait untill the stripes thex put on on the check up day fall of from themself and then just wear sportsbra.
I showered twice a day and they lasted another 5 days ..
