Operation cancelled!
Hi girls,
im absolutely devastated I just got a call from my clinic nurse at Transform saying my operation on Sunday is cancelled as the anaesthetist isnt happy to go agead.
My doctor had to forward my medical notes to them regarding medication, which all went through fine, however they forwarded that I saw an ENT a few years ago about losing my voice which they said could be 'nodules' from shouting at the match when i used to go years ago. They said it was nothing, completely normal and I wouldnt need treatment and its very common,
Ive spent all week chasing Transform to see about my previous medications being ok (anti-depressants when I was 13!!) and after about 25 phonecalls this week it was fine. Just packing my bag to go and get a call about this. No way will they go ahead etc etc I need to see an ENT specialist to see if they would be happy etc, event though Ive had surgery since they discovered this in the first place.
Im absolutely devastated, Ive built myself up and wanted this for nearly 10 years. Ive got my parents taking me to Manchester and paid for hotels which I cant get refunds on, Ive took time off and have a 4 week break before Im back to strenuous work and this will take months to sort out for something I KNOW is totally insignificant but know they wont do anything about it. I cant believe theyve left it this late to tell me. I really dont know where I go from here.

Re: Operation cancelled!
I'm so sorry this has happened to you hun, and I do think companies are going a bit OTT with the new regulations that they have to make sure people and mentally and physical able to cope with surgery. Try not to get too upset, you will need to ring your GP on monday now and get an appointment so that they can refer you to the ENT department, once you have seen the ENT they will be able to clear you for surgery.
Re: Operation cancelled!
i just cannot believe they have left it this late to tell me i think its pretty disgusting, ive been hanging on all week, told this morning it will be fine theyre just notifying the anaesthetist it shouldnt be a problem, i asked if i should pack she said yes, then got this call.
I have no idea how long itll take for me to see an ENT specialist, referrals can take months, this totally sucks and I feel its been handled really badly. This should have been sorted weeks ago when I had my pre-op. I hate that its happened at 5.30pm on a Friday night when I have no way of being able to even start the ball rolling, just the whole weekend to think about how it isnt happening. Gutted.

Re: Operation cancelled!
It is awful how you have been treated and I would make sure you ask for compensation.
Re: Operation cancelled!
Oh misf1 that is so awful! I'm so sorry. I cannot imagine how you must be feeling. With everything arranged and planned you must be gutted. I would have thought this should have been sorted ages ago. Your not the first person I've heard this happen to though so it is making me worry too now. I hope you sort everything ou real soon! Hugs xxx

I'm so sorry to hear this
These irresponsible companies really anger me. You're not the first one on here who's had her op cancelled only days before her op. They should have sorted this earlier, there's no excuse
I know this won't make you feel better right now, but you will get your day soon xxx

Re: Operation cancelled!
thanks everyone. Im having a vodka (I havent had a drink in over a week prepping for op ) and feel a bit better thinking well if its cancelled now when i would have to wrap up in august to stop people noticing, my only other 4 weeks off is december so it gives me time to sort everything out again and at least my partner wont be working away he can come with me.
I just hate how theyve left me hanging on. Ive not even met my coordinator as the lady I dealt with in March left the day I made my booking, and each time ive rang the new person has been off or unavailable (works part time) etc. so I dont expect her to want to do me any favours as she hasnt even met me, if it was the other coordinator who has left I know she would have bent over backwards we got on well. I just hope it gets sorted. Im going to ask for my money to be transfered straight back into my account but perhaps leave the deposit so they know I still want my op etc.
I just have a bad feeling this will go on to get worse, if its possible! We'll see. until then Im going to keep beasting the gym, getting ready for my op when it finally happens.
Im so annoyed as if this had happened earlier I would have even paid for a private check-up with an ENT specialist just to say im ok for surgery and it could have gone ahead, instead of telling me at 5.40pm on a friday!! ridiculous. All down to mis-communication which is the most important part of a service. lets just hope it all gets sorted out for the best!
thanks again xxx

Re: Operation cancelled!
Geordiejen, if I was you I'd have damn good rant too!!!! They should have got their act together a whole lot earlier and you should definitely ask for compensation for unrefundable hotels etc... great advice there from Misf1.
If its any consolation its due to be a heatwave next week which wouldn't be very comfortable post op. (small silver lining???). I'm certainly not looking forward to it as still no vest tops for me in my sexy flesh coloured heavy duty sports bra !!!
Big hugs.... xxx

Re: Operation cancelled!
Aww Jen that's terrible news! I feel so bad for you x at least your managing to put a positive spin on it which is the best way to cope in these situations. It is terrible what has happened, you must be VERY annoyed and agree with lx79 that you have a damn good reason to rant!
December is a much better time to get it done anyway... New boobies for a new year ;) x x x x x x x x

Re: Operation cancelled!
This is terrible, I don't understand how companies can do this and leave it until the last minute to cancel women's operations. I'm so sorry this has happened to you.
Definitely get compensation and kick up as big a stink as you possibly can. This sort of thing makes me soooooo angry. I'll go down there and kick up a stink myself for you! Unbelievable.
Sending you lots of hugs xx

Re: Operation cancelled!
I can understand that they want to be safe but to leave it till the last minute like that is not fair and you should get compensation for the hotel rooms etc that you paid for!
