Hey ladies!

I've got my 6 week p.o check this Thursday and I'm sooooooo hoping that I can ditch the compression band and maybe ditch the sports bras too...

How long was it before you all were allowed to start wearing normal bras? Did you get fitted at this point as well?

I know 6 weeks is still early so I want to be prepared if I'm getting my hopes up too much and expecting too much too soon...

Thanks! Xx

Hiya sunshine, I was allowed to wear normal bras at just over 5 weeks. he said i can wear any bra I wanted to.... So I went to my local underwear shop got measured/ fitted into 32DD and that's what I still am although it's getting tighter on the cups I'm hoping I don't end up an E cup!!!!!

I'd imagine you will be told you can wear normal bras too as we went with the same company!!!
I still live in sports bras though for comfort just when I go out I bring out the underwired ones. Xxxx

I still have my sportsbras, I LOVE them now haha. They're the first thing I seek out when no-ones coming over and I just put on my comfy clothes.

I was fitted for my first wired bras at 12 weeks post-op. xx

I saw Withey at two months because I couldn't make it at six weeks. He told me I could start wearing regular bras, but even better if I carried on wearing sports bras when possible. He didn't recommend I wear wired bras regularly though. However, I've had a mastopexy so the healing is longer. I've never been a fan of underwires full time even before. I've bought a couple of underwired bras to wear occasionally, but I only have to wear them a few minutes to know I'm not ready to wear them yet so I'm staying away from them for now. At three months I'm finding myself more comfortable in regular nonwired bras now than sports bras, unless I'm exercising of course!

Let us know what he says to you. I'm curious xxx

Thanks ladies! Ooh exciting looks like it might happen!

The biggest relief will be getting rid of the band as I've only got 3 t shirts that don't show the band over the neck line and it's playing havoc with my wardrobe!

Roxanne, I'll let you know what he says! It'll be 7 weeks for me when I see him so not far off when you did xx

I was told at the hospital after my op I had to wear sports bra's for 6 weeks, then at my 6 week check up the nurse said only the surgeon could give me permission to wear normal bra's and I've therefore had to wait 3 months. I've kind of sucked it up and got on with it, but needless to say I haven't been able to enjoy one of the best parts of a BA. Not that I'm really complaining, I enjoy having a good peep down my sports bra.

Do be prepared though, generally its 6 weeks but some surgeons/individual patients can be longer. I'm pretty sure had I had an appointment with my surgeon sooner, I would have been in gorgeous bra's right now. x
