How long does the op take?
Just wondering how long the actual op takes?, they are anatomicals so heard this might take a tiny bit longer but not sure exactly what the length of surgery will be and how long would I be out for?

Re: How long does the op take?
Oh right I thought it was much shorter then that for some reason, so how long does the GA last?, do they give you something to wake you up or do you just wake up when it wears off?

Re: How long does the op take?
As far as I recall my op took 1 /12 hours went down at 8.45a.m. and I suppose about 15mins to get to operating theatre have meds as op. scheduled for 9.am and I recall it was 11.20 when I woke.... well half woke. They give you enough meds for expected time of op. and then you have to come around in your own time being constantly monitered in recovery room with medical staff by your side. When they are satisfied that you are ready to return to your room they take you back and continue to moniter and check you are well. Hope that helps a bit. xx
P.S. All of this was explained to be at consultation .... I have also had a few G.A.'s in my time....Just a great sleep!!

Re: How long does the op take?
I went down at 3.30 and came round at 5.30 my mum said the surgeon came to see her at 5 oclock to say everything went well so i must have been in recovery coming round for half an hour.
I think the op was about 1 1/2 hours my surgeon did try 3 sizers though which is why my op may have taken a little longer probably normally takes about a hour but as the other ladies said you dont have a clue seems like a second and its over lol

Re: How long does the op take?
I've been told my op will be an hour. Suppose mine is really simple. No uplift or anything and having overs.
I asked my mum if she had any problems after a GA for my pre assessment form and she said she took a lot longer to come around than usual.

Re: How long does the op take?
I was in op room for 30 mins apparently and 30 mins in recovery (when you are still asleep). No time at all really considering how much they change your life !
