Consultation with PS
Hiya ladies.
You all seem to have had many consultations with various plastic surgeons, so i need a little advice. How long should a consultation with a PS last? I spoke to my PC yesterday and she's booked me an appointment before work. I asked how long consultation would last and she said 10 mins! Is this normal or am i being rushed?

Re: Consultation with PS
Hello!
I had my first consultation before joining this forum, and the ps measured me and said what I could have then my consultation was then taken over by my pcc. I wasn't it for over ten mins but I feel personally that they don't invest much time into you regarding your first consultation - However, I did pay my deposit and book my op about 2 hours after that consultation!
If I were to do it again though, I would be better armed with questions and I would be more prepared as now Thanks to this forum I have alot more knowledge on what to ask from your consultation. At the end of the day it should be them earning your custom, where as mind kind of felt like they were in charge of me!
So as long as you know what you want to ask etc it can be as long as you make it!

Re: Consultation with PS
I first had a consultation with my pcc then I went back and had one with ps which last about 20 mins but he never made me feel rushed, I then went back and spoke to my pcc. I personally only went and saw 1 surgeon as I knew he was right for me and I didn't want anything to cloud my judgement.

This is what happens for so many women and it's not at all how a consultation should be
Although you've been booked in for a 10 minute slot, don't be rushed in your consultation, you surgeon may try to 'manage the appointment' to get you out that door and they're ready for the next one, but keep in mind this consultation is about YOU and your body. YOUR choice of surgeon is the reason for you being there and you want to know you're being heard, your wants and needs are noted. they understand you and most importantly, you understand them!
Think of your 1st consultation as a test drive for if you were to be unfortunate to have a complication, now.... would you be happy with a surgeon operating on you who's going to rush through your concerns, give you a blah, blah, blah and see ya in six months! Or would you rather a surgeon take time for you and 'care'?
I know which I chose!!!!! I made my butt well and truely fixed to my chair and I wasn't budging till I was heard lol. really though, I didn't need to, I've been lucky to have two surgeons who seemed to 'care' and honestly seemed to want the best for me because they took their time for me
You're paying a lot of money for your BA sweetheart and 'time' is the very least your surgeon can give you to ensure you're happy with the surgery plan provided. xx

Re: Consultation with PS
My first consultation REALLY put me off, I was told I was going to have overs before he had even seen my breasts. He was completely biased upon placements and took me through only the positives to having overs and the negatives to unders. He answered his mobile while I was trying implants on and sat joking on the phone while I made one of the biggest decisions of my life. He read through a sheet he had printed out and ticked them off as he said it out loud, I wasn't given an opportunity to ask questions until at the end by which time any asked were dismissed and I was told to ask my PCC.
I left feeling like I was wasting his time, like I wasn't the type of patient he wanted or like I didn't deserve implants. It was definitely a confidence hit if I'm honest. Not everyone will have felt the same with this particular surgeon so I don't want women digging up my old posts to find out who and avoiding him like the plague, this was just MY experience.
My second consultation is with the surgeon I went with, he took his time, he asked MY opinion on most of it... Did I think there were risks? Was I concerned about the PIP scandal? What placement did I want and why? He spent time working with me and ensuring I fully understood and agreed with his opinions etc. In the end I went with the implants I'd tried on in my first consultation, and I had overs anyway. But at least Mr Clarke had made an effort to explain why he thought I would be better suited to overs with MY anatomy, not just because that was his preferred placement.
I appologise for the in-depth response, but I just wanted to give you an idea of how much a consultation can differ. Go and see a few, there is never any rush for you to get booked in as much as you may feel it post op because once they're there then thats it you don't get another chance until you want to fork out for a re-op. So find the best surgeon for you by seeing a few and comparing/researching, everything else will fit in place! x

Re: Consultation with PS
It's good to hear other peoples experiences Alice. My husband is working and i'm seeing PS alone. So i'm not as confident about the consultation as i would have been. I'm trying to gather as much info as i can, so i know whats acceptable and whats not.
I've read really good things about Mr Netri and the attention he pays his patients. I have the 1st appointment so even though i've been squeezed in i suppose i can insist on all the time i need.
I'll apologise now to anyone who has appointments after mine. Lol

Re: Consultation with PS
Haha don't worry about it, at the end of the day you are just as important as the girls who are to see him after you. Take your time and if he rushes you he isn't the surgeon for you!x

Re: Consultation with PS
My consultations have all been with my PS. My first one was about an hour, my following ones were about half an hour. I had a lot of questions, and he needed to be somewhere straight after my second consult, so we set up a phone consult for a couple of weeks later, and then he felt I needed another face to face consult after that too. Seriously, this is major surgery and money, best to make sure all your questions are answered, and it feels right
I also had a consultation with another PS at a private practice locally before seeing the one I chose, this one was an hour too xxx

Re: Consultation with PS
thats definately rushed, surgeon is supposed to understand your medical history and look at your body shape type to determine whats best for you, and what you want to look like etc...no ways can that be done in 10 minutes
