Mammogram before BA
Anyone been asked to go for a mammogram before their BA by their surgeon?
If not had anyone gone for one for themselves before their boobs as a starting off point for the future if you get me??
Wondering if i could request this or would i have to pay extra for it?
Thanks ladies xxxx

Re: Mammogram before BA
All women 50 and over can have a free mammogram in the UK sweetie, unless there was special circumstances that required you have a mammogram before that age, for example, a history of breast cancer through your family, then I guess you'd have to pay for that privately if you wanted one earlier.
I didn't get a mammogram before having a BA and haven't had one yet (5 years post-op) but I do a breast check every morning when showering and check for any lumps or changes to my breasts. xx

No I've not had one, hopefully won't need one for 20 years. The surgeon never mentioned getting one.
Re: Mammogram before BA
I had an ultrasound (I think this is because I was too small for a mammogram to be effective..ughhh). I was referred from my GP though as I'd found a cyst, they just wanted to double check and Transform needed a copy for their records.
I'm pleased I have piece of mind so if you're at all concerned go for it. You should scan your breasts regularly in case of ruptures anyway, so I assume this would be checked in the process. X

Ohhhh, I remember you saying now about this.... I'm sure given your circumstances babe they will make make an exception for you, but like you say, you'll probably have to lay it on pretty thick to have one.
Good luck babe and hope the appointment goes well. xx
