Backache
Had my BA on Thursday. My upper back is killing me. I'm wearing a binder and that's tight but also think it could be because of how I'm sleeping. Has anyone else suffered with bad back pain and how long do I have to sleep upright?
I will get my story up when I can sit still for long enough xx

Re: Backache
I know how you feel so so much right now! I'm also wearing a binder and my back is in agony, worse at night. I'm 8days pre op and actually dread bedtime so I would love to know if anyone has any tips on sleeping? x

Re: Backache
I think the majority of us suffer with this sweetheart
You do know that you don't need to be 'sat upright' don't you? You only need to have your head raised above your chest hun, so a pillow and your V-pillow is plenty to have you 'propped up'.
A pillow under each arm helps too along with another pillow under your knees and a hot water bottle in the small of your back.
After your first post-op check your nurse will let you know how your swelling is getting on and depending on that after your check-up you can then start to see how you get on gently sleeping on your side cushioned again by your pillows.
Your posture will also play havoc with your back as after your BA you tend to instinctively hunch over, so be very aware when standing/walking of your back and if you can straighten it up babe.
Hope things ease up for you soon babe. xx

Re: Backache
I also suffered really back with this, I found the only way to be comfortable was to have an ice pack on my boobs to ease them and a heat pack on my upper back to stop it from aching!
Wilko's sell reusable heat/ice packs for about £2 and they're amazing, stick them in the freezer or stick them in the microwave! Best of both worlds!x

Re: Backache
I too suffered, cookie has given the best advice, posture is the worst culprit, and a hot water bottle on achey muscles in your back work wonders.
Re: Backache
Thank you for your advice. I'll send my daughter to Wilko's to buy the heat/ice packs. I'll go fill the hot water bottle now.
Cookie, thank you. I thought I had to sleep almost upright. If I sleep with a pillow and v pillow how do I get up lol?
I'm also suffering with constipation, nightmare, my stomach is huge.

Re: Backache
Its prob a mixture of the binder, sleeping in a funny position, and not being used to have boobies lol! It took me a little while to get used to mine. Ibuprofen and a hot water bottle work wonders x

Re: Backache
I can't take ibuprofen because I have asthma but hoping the hot water bottle will help. I know posture is part of it too as I'm scared my little one will jump up and knock me so I'm being protective xx

This is where your abs come into play! LOL. Take a deep breath, cross your arms cupping your boobs, do the old 1...2.... and then on 3 rock up and you're then ready for the bum shuffle off the bed!!
It might sound difficult but it wont take you long to master it xx

Ahhh the Buddah Belly! It's VERY common after surgery babe, the pain killers do tend to bung you up. Ensure you're eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, walking around is fantastic and maybe take some Senna or Lactulose to help get yourself going too. xx
Re: Backache
I'm walking miles around my living room and kitchen lol. I've been given cocodamol and antibiotics. Yes I have a v pillow.
I'm wearing a binder across the top of my boobs which isn't helping my back. What is this actually for? xx

Re: Backache
The binder is to maintain stability of your breasts whilst your new boobs are settling in babe. Some surgeons through personal preference use a binder early post-op rather than a sports bra or some like to use both! and others only a sports bra, but they're all just to keep your boobs stable whilst the textured implant is adhering to the pocket. xx
