Lazy nipples!
Hi ladies,
I have a query... but I should explain first that not only am I self concious of my boobs to the point of being ashamed, because of their size, but I also feel very self concious about my (what I call) lazy nipples.
Ok, almost flat nipples... Because of the size of my boobs, my nipples tend to take on a sunken look, which makes me cringe when my fella sees them (I avoid this as much as possible). When I'm cold, when their rubbed, they stick out, but never for very long. So aside from looking into and having subsequently booked my BA op (in 4 weeks time), I also looked into nipple surgery. The surgery I looked into was predominantly aimed at women with inverted nipples and so I wasn't sure whether mine would qualify for this type of procedure, as they're not inverted.
One surgeon I spoke to said that often the BA on it's own would help as it would fill out the breast & effectively push out the nipple from behind. I will be quizzing my surgeon when I see him on Thursday about this.
I don't know if I'm making too much out of this, but I've been looking at a multitude of before & after pics & look at as many boobs as I can (you know what it's like when you get hung up about something) and virtually all the pics are of women with nipples that project proudly, almost saying 'hey I'm here, look at me!' And I look at mine & they're saying 'go away, stop looking, we don't wanna come out...'
But my query to you ladies, is have any of you got flat/lazy nipples and if so did your BA help matters? The nipple procedure would be another £1300ish and am hoping the BA improves things as I can't afford this on top of having already forked out a lot of money for BA.

Re: Lazy nipples!
You're absolutely right to go through EVERY concern you have about your boobs pre-BA babe, if your surgeon thinks they will 'definately' protrude post-BA then it's all good isn't it hun, just be sure you see that in your notes in writing! so that if you dont get the results you want, then you will entitled to a re-op based on what was written for your surgery plan. (I'm not saying you won't, I just always air on the side of caution lol)
If there's no guarantee then I suppose you have two options - a) see how things go and if it works out great! If not you could always save for further surgery to have this addressed later, or b) see if your surgeon will come to an agreement to reduce the price of the nipple surgery seeing as you'd be having 2 procedures together and whether that would be affordable to you? If it is you could then request the further surgery ONLY if it's felt necessary to achieve your desired results.
Please let us know how the consultation goes Corrina I really hope it all works out for you xx

Re: Lazy nipples!
Thanks Cookie, I'm not really in a position at the moment to fork out yet more cash, but didn't think of your suggestion of asking about a reduction in the nipple procedure if having it done at the same time as the BA, so that's a VERY good idea, I certainly wont lose anything by asking!
I totally understand what the one surgeon said about pushing it out, but I still worry (& I should've written this in my first post) that my nipples will be stretched flat from the BA! I think if I only undergo the BA & that happens, I'll have to save for further surgery.. But yes, I'll discuss it with him on Thursday. Still excited about the BA nonetheless! Thanks hun xx

Re: Lazy nipples!
Your nipples won't be stretched out hun, at first they may seem shiny and stretched, but as the skin relaxes, they do return back to normal and no, you've absolutely nothing to loose in haggling hun! So go for it and GOOD LUCK! xx
Re: Lazy nipples!
Prior to my BA, I too had 'lazy nipples' which I was quite conscious about, I used to always sneakily stick my hand in my bra during foreplay before he did to get them up a bit and even then my bra would never come off cause I hated my breasts so much!
Since my BA they've become a lot more 'responsive' so to speak haha! I had a permenant nipple erection for about a month post op lol! I loved it lol! Now they become erect when Im cold or aroused all by themselves lol, but otherwise, they're still pretty flat. But I dont notice them as much now I actually have boobs!! Hope this helps x

Re: Lazy nipples!
Yes, I always give them a sneaky rub before he gets there too!
Ah thanks ladies, I feel a bit more relaxed now (not quite as relaxed as my nipples though!). xx

Re: Lazy nipples!
I just want to point out that 'lazy' nipples and inverted nipples are more common and normal than you think. Please do not be fooled by men's mags and any other magazines. They make sure nipples are more erect for the photoshoot (ice, nipple pinching, etc.), and these days photoshop is the norm too.
I've always had a lazier nipple, and some degree of inverion as well. A total of 30 months of breastfeeding sure sorted that out though, lol! My 'lazy' side is nowhere near as lazy as it used to be, but there is still a difference nonetheless, even if I'd wanted it sorted it wouldn't have been an option for me though, because you can't correct this at the same time of having a mastopexy.
Having said the above though, if it really does bother you, do mention it, because you have the option to do something about it during the op, and if you don't ask you might ask yourself later if you should have xxx

Re: Lazy nipples!
Hey Corinna, firstly lemme just say i know exactly how you feel, the only problem i wanted to resolve was the lack of boobi tissue, but since my BA i haven't noticed much lazy nips, but definitely speak to your surgeon. Good luck on D day.

Re: Lazy nipples!
I know what you mean about lazy nipples, mine were always fine if it was cold but I'd have to give them a sneaky tweak before anyone came near them.
I'm only 10 days post op but my nipples have been like guard dogs, up all day and all night! So maybe see how you get on, you can always fork up for the nipple surgery in the future if they're still acting lazy! Or you may find it doesn't bother you as much once your lazy nips have a nice pair of boobs to sleep on x

Roxanne, Alex-C, altw & everyone who's responded (who I've already responded to) - thanks so much, I do feel less of an ashamed oddball now...! I will still be asking the surgeon day after tomorrow, but sounds like it could well be less of an issue once the BA is done and I'm counting down the days for that now! xxx

Re: Lazy nipples!
Thanks Kay! I'm so glad I joined this forum, I honestly thought it was far less common than it is until raising the subject here. The media has a lot to answer for. I'm not a media junkie, but you just don't have to be these days when it's thrust in your face left, right & centre! You're looking fab by the way xx
