Paying for consultations
Hey ladies,
It seems some places charge for consultations (company wise) and some dont.
I feel like its abit of a land mine out there :(
I live in the northwest and would realy appreciate any recommendations you ladies can give me for eather surgeons or companies as ive been looking and i feel im starting to go blind lol
I was thinking of booking consultations with Transform, Mybreast and MYA but alot of you ladies have gone for specific surgeons and i have no idea where to start with this.
The only thing ive decided up to now is that im going to book a consultation with MYA for nxt month after talking to them, they rang me litrally 30 mins after i asked for info from the website and the woman seemed lovley.
I feel abit nieve and terrified of making the wrong choice lol :)
Please help

Re: Paying for consultations
Hey hun , & welcome :)
ahh iv been in this exact situation but i was going to consultations for a year before iv decided to go ahead with transform..
i know its difficult when people talk surgeons because i was like whaattt?.. but you start to realise when you meet them what the are saying a who feels right.. then do your research babe,
it would help if you know people who have had a BA who can give you information.. with me iv got 2 friends who have had them. one with mya who loves the work shes had and couldnt sing there praises enough
but then another who had one with transform. iv seen them and they look AMAZING. and her scars are hardly noticeable. and shes more than happy..
after my consultation with transform i knew id be having it with them. so i booked on that day. nw im just counting down the days :).
theres alot of people out there who will tell you different as everyone has different opinions and experiences. youll just know when you know :). make sure you have a few just so you can compare.
as for paying i never paid to meet a surgeon. with the harley medical you have to but i didnt feeel like i wanted to go that far with them i wasnt impressed
choose carefully hun and good luck xxx

Re: Paying for consultations
Hey KS! I know just what you mean! When I started looking into it I was totally lost....personally, I think you need to choose your surgeons and then work from there... To be honest I read loads and loads on here and got a feel for the surgeons I thought would give me what I was looking for....bigger, natural looking breasts with minimal scarring... I found two that I liked the sound of, researched them and made appts with them both. One was with Mybreast and the other with Spire. After meeting both surgeons, I would have been happy to have either of them as I liked their manner and reputation...the deciding factor was that Mybreasts aftercare was much better and I would have had to pay for another consultation with Spire as my first consult was a 'mini' one. Perhaps put a post out there saying what you are looking for and asking for others who have had this as their requirement....? First things first....what do you want? As I say, I wanted bigger, natural looking but not overly big boobs, to suit my frame. And my scars to be minimal.....i think I got what I wanted so I am over the moon!! Xx

Re: Paying for consultations
Agree with nepoly, I haven't had mine done yet though. I started looking local but decided to go further afield so if your willing to travel then more surgeons are available to you. Research the surgeons, especially on here, check out the companies aftercare. I chose my surgeon based on what I needed, I knew I wouldn't be a straight forward BA so wanted a specialist in plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery and even if I was straight forward case I wouldve chose him anyway, He told me what I could and couldn't have to get the best result and knew what he was talking about regarding my problem. I know you should have a few consults with different surgeons however I didn't. My consultation was £25 but was thorough , I think my second one with him was free cant remember and they refund you it when you book and pay deposit. Xx

Re: Paying for consultations
The surgeon and the aftercare were most important to me. Like Beej, I also wanted a surgeon who specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery, and a member of BAPRAS/BAAPS. I knew I'd need some sort of lift, and wanted a surgeon who could give me a lovely shape, it's not all about size. Also, I chose someone who is known for preferring the natural look, this was very important. I liked the aftercare Mybreast had to offer, and high standards of their surgeons, and a few that I was interested in. I phoned them and asked to book a consult with a specific surgeon. The fee is £25 which really is not much (I'd previously payed £100 to see another surgeon locally), and they knock it off your surgery fee if you book with them. Plus you can see another surgeon for free, I was going to keep this option open, but didn't feel the need to after I saw my surgeon, I just knew he was the one, and didn't want to confuse things further xxx

Re: Paying for consultations
I've just responded to a newbie asking where to start so I'll just copy n paste my reply here too hope you dont mind babe
Locate different clinics/surgeons in your area, if calling a clinic
request a list of the surgeons working in your area, then you can go
through each one online checking them out on the GMC register as well as the BAAPS register.
In addition to this always seek reviews from previous patients too and
get as much feedback as you can independantly online if possible. Our surgeons and clinics section of the
forum is a good place to ask about surgeons you may want to know about.
Try
and choose at least 2 surgeons to have a consultation with, just so you
have two surgery plans to digest and compare and NEVER be tempted by
any offers that are laid out for you. A BA should never be about saving
yourself a few quid,
your body is worth so much more! and anyways the offers are all rubbish
anyway, the deal is ALWAYS on in the places offering them.
To add to that... Some surgeons do charge for consultations babe, but don't let that put you off, if you choose your surgeons wisely the money paid for the consultation does come off the overall BA price so you end up generally paying no more than the freebies anyway and whoever you choose go through all their after-care with a fine tooth comb to be sure you're 100% sure of everything before signing on the dotted line. xx
