A bit worried about my scars Empty A bit worried about my scars

Post by alexandra33 13th December 2011, 6:27 pm

Hi lovely ladies!! I feel like I haven't posted something in forever (although I've been responding so much to other posts!!)

So I'm about 16 weeks post op, and I know there are changes, etc to still go on, but I'm a bit worried about my scars. they're about a cm thick and still vry red. They have looked the same for about 8 weeks now...I"m just worried that I'm always going to have these thick red scars under my boobs. They don't hurt, aren't itchy, they're healed! They're just not shrinking or lightening in colour!

I cover them with bandaids when tanning...so it's not from that...any suggestions?? I'm SO jealous of you girlies who say you have a paper-thin line!!! A bit worried about my scars 43877

help? suggestions?A bit worried about my scars 571992

from what i've read they will go down in time - that bl**dy word again - time time time! all we ever seem to have to do is wait!

maybe just a morning and night routine of bio oil could help!

Like the other girls have said my PS advises Bio Oil and it can take up to a year plus for scars to heal. You could also try silicone cone gel, I have taken below extract from the web but my PS said this will also help with the healing process.

The use of topical silicone products, including silicone gel and silicone gel sheeting, for the treatment of burn scars was first described in 1982 and has since gained widespread popularity in reducing and preventing keloid and hypertrophic scars. The safety and efficacy of topical silicone products has become generally accepted based on numerous reports.

Your boobs look totally amazing!!!!!!

i'm using bio oil too as its what my pcc suggested, expensive but meant to be worth it. Got to use it twice a day to get the best effects, and be patient.... scars take a long long time to heal properly xxx

taping across the scars with paper tape works the same as the expensive silicone stuf - it keeps the forces of ur boobs moving off the scar and stops them being stretched - proven to speed up scar healing in the first year.

Agree with Springstep. My PS has me taping my scars for 6 months. I haven't put any bio-oil or anything on mine yet, as they're taped 24/7.

If you want to take a look at my pics to see how mine are coming along with the taping then PM me and I'll send you my password. A cm seems pretty wide... are you sure the scar has really spread that much? A cm is almost half an inch wide... you don't mean a mm?
