scabs on scars - very worried!
hi
im 4 weeks post op now... my scars are still like red lines with scabbiness to them, and on the left one, at the end of the line, i had quite a big scab (about the size of a pea) and that has since fell off, leaving fresh flesh underneath which has oozed a tiny bit of pus overnight (i covered with a dressing as soon as i noticed the scab had fell off)
im booked in to see the nurse tomorrow so she can have a look at it, but i wondered how other girls scars healed, especially what they looked like at around 4 weeks post op, and did anyone else get scabs?
so worried..

when i said the scab had fell off, i meant it has come off before it should have done... cuz the flesh underneath is really fresh and horrible looking with almost a moist surface... is this still the same as what u had littlewisher?

Yeah like it had been peeled off it was really pale pink and shiny in a big ish circle, it also had bit of fluid come out of it. Turned out it wasnt infected but i had to use the cream to make sure it didnt get infected xxx

Yes we do all get scabs over the scars and sometimes they do come off a bit too soon, just from normal movement or bra rubbing, just make sure you keep them dry, patting dry after a shower or giving them a blast of cool air with the hair dryer. You can dress the scars or leave them. I would ask your surgeon/nurse if you are allowed to put anything on them. I wouldn't worry it is quite normal.

I'm 4 weeks post op and have exactly the same thing! I'm seeing my ps tomorrow (as long as the snow holds off!) But my aunt is a wounds care nurse and she's assured me it's perectly normal. Hope all goes well today for you xxx

I had the exact same thing, i could see white and yellow tissue underneith, i was very worried so as i couldnt get to see the nurse i went to my doctor, he said it looked ok but gave me some antibiotics to be on the safe side. Definately keep it as dry as possible, hairdryer works well xx

I had these too, my nurse told me to spend a bit more time in the shower and use some anti bacterial soap and give them a good lather. This is what my surgeon recommends so best check with your clinic first.
Cookie gave me a good tip about 'airing' my boobs for about an hour a day. I found this did help alot as in this weather you tend to keep wrapped up. I also used a hairdryer which was good too.
None of mine came off too early though so can't help you there.
I did loads of reserach before my op but it still feels like the unknown afterwards, don't worry too much hun I'm sure any question you have us girls on here can help xx
Hope your check up went ok xx

Well I couldn't get to the hospital today for the nurse to see it cuz of the weather, so i sent her a few pics on email of the problem area... she still wants to see me when i can get there, but said to keep dressings on it and use inadine pads on it also, but im back to no showering!! :(
i hope it heals, thanks for all your help girls x
