Post by Bubs 12th December 2011, 11:20 am

Hi ladies more questions- I'm 3/4 days post op- and I'm dyeing to know when I'll be able to sleep again? I've had Unders and I sleep tilted up, which is fine for about 2hrs and its agony to get up and move for ages after. I'm sleeping two 2hr shifts a night! Xxx

You should be sleeping by now... try a stronger painkiller and anti-inflamatories x

Hi
This is unfortunate as sleep deprivation is going to make you feel worse in general. I'm only a week post op but been sleeping quite well- I've mastered the pillows!! Do you have a v pillow? If not def invest in one!!! Argos have them for £10 and they are a godsend!! I use 3 small pillows tiered on top of each other like stairs, with the bottom one I kind of sit on, then pillow behind me. x

I was much better after a week. If you find your lower back aches try putting a hot water bottle on it to relieve the muscle tension.

It's my actual chest that hurts when I get up for ages, it feels so tight like I'm being crushed! Is it cos I have Unders? My ps said I can lay flat if I want but I just can't! It's too sore :( xx

i had unders too, and like the others girls have said, the first week is the hardest!! Try lying half on your side/ back tilted up, that helped me. i slept on my back on day 9, i woke up a bit sore, but to be honest it wasn't bad at all. Good luck!! xxx

hi hun,

i know the feeling. i had partials and haven't been too bad - i found that waking in the night helped a bit as i continue to take paracetamol and ibrupofen all through the night - that way i felt ok in the morning still.

i've also got a v pillow and do the same as Debs. and now starting sleeping slightly tilted to one side as the longer i go the more fed up sleeping upright is.

it's just thr trying to get up bit i am having a porblem with - lying flat isn't too bad but how do you get back up? when can you push down with your arms again?

sorry to hear you're not sleeping well hun. nothing worse then sleep deprivation Sleep....? 571992

Oh hun, I def found the sleeping part the hardest. I had back ache, painful boobs every time I got up... but I promise it does get loads easier. I was 2 weeks post op when I started sleeping on my side. Getting the pillow position right is a must though. Think there's a thread on here somewhere, on how to position the pillows for a good nights sleep! xxx

Hiya

I had my surgery a week today and the second day after the anestitic wore off was the worst, my back was aching more then my boobs!

My bed is covered in about 6 pillows with the V pillow in the middle. Sleeping sitting right up def eased my back the next day and I even managed to sleep on my side last night. Am still waking numerous times during the night and boobs always seem tighter when I wake up and get out of bed.

I was told to have a day bra and a night bra and last night I slept with a tubergrip around my bust which the hospital gave me - I'm not sure if it's better or worse for my healing, or just coz it's been a week now, but the ease of sleeping in a comfier position does eventually get there :-)
