8 months on and bottoming out :(
Hi Everyone,
I'm so upset been having a tough time lately and now this :( So my right boob has always been weird pretty much straight away. My boobs have changed a lot.... I had two different sizes to correct aysymetry but my right still looked bigger post op then the other - I was alright with this at as least I had boobs. Any way over the last few months the right is now very noticeably lower than my left and over the last few weeks the nipple is high, pops out of my bra and has hardly any upper fullness :(
I knew I would probably have to have another op at some time (hoping years and years) not months later. Only just got over the first one! Is it something I have done to cause this ? What's the chance of it happening again? will this be revised free ? (my breast)
Has anyone had any experience with bottoming out? I thought it was rare ?!
Thank you
From scared and worried Kerry xx

Hey..
Very sorry to hear of your troubles! I also was asymmetric and had two totally different sizes. They are still different and my nipple placement is pretty off :/ Im going to see my PS on Tues to see if anything can be done to help..
I dont believe YOU have done anything to cause it. These complications DO happen but its more of CHANCE then anything.. Sorry i cant be of much help! Hope you get it all sorted soon. Xx

Sorry to hear about this hun, I don't know alot about this, but i doubt it would have been caused by something that you have done. I wouldnt like to think they would charge you, but im not 100% sure on mybreast, its worth speaking with them.

Hey Hun im having problems with my right boob it's not in the pocket and floats around freely on my chest it's annoying more than anything it doesnt sit rite in my bras either. I have been back to see James and he said I will need another op to correct this and maybe change my implants to the textured ones because the more or less stay where u put them. As far as re paying I don't know I wudnt have thought so because it's not ur fault and ur still within the first year.
Let me know how u get on hunni, I'm hoping they correct it for u free of charge xx

Hey Hun xx
Sorry to hear this news xx
I bottomed out and then my original PS failed to correct the issue and I've just had surgery for a third time with a reconstruction surgeon which hopefully has corrected it for a period of time xx I have been told they will bottom out again though over time xx
Bottoming out can be caused by an over dissection of the pockets that the implants sit in or the weight of the implant, or a combination of both xx
Generally if it happens immediately after surgery it is the over dissection of the pocket which is surgeon error and you should push for it to be corrected for free xx EVEN if it's due to the weight of the implant, I would push for free correction though.....after all your PS would have ultimately chose the size of implants that he thought were going to be okay xx
Bottoming out is very difficult to correct and needs really to be done by a specialist xx
As Georgiana says I would be making a appointment ASAP with my PS to get the ball rolling xx and don't let them fob you off xx if you are not happy push for it to be corrected xx Hopefully your PS and the company will look after you xx
I know how you feel and it's horrible to live with, however sweety if you do nothing then it will never change xx As awful as it is you need to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later so that you can look at getting what you paid for xx Thinking of you xx
PM me if you want any other info xx

Thank you everyone
Natty- I hope it gets sorted soon, how long ago did you have your op?
Kay- Sorry to hear about your situation, third time lucky hopefully. How did the surgeon correct your bottoming out? Both times? I wonder whether I went to unders from overs whether that would help...
Kerry xx

Re: 8 months on and bottoming out :(
I originally had a lollipop lift which was completely wrong for what I started with and the PS basically over dissected the pockets......
...when I complained the same PS did a second full lollipop lift, which again was completely wrong for me and fixed nothing.....
...this time I have gone to see a reconstruction surgeon, who has cut along the crease and then removed tissue from the underside of the breast then pulled it all together again xx I think he may have put some internal stitches in.....creating a hammock inside the breast if you like....my nipples are definitely now in the centre of the breast mound and all the tissue under the areola is gone so whatever he has done appears to have worked fingers crossed anyways xx although he did tell me that I would eventually bottom out again if I kept the implants in xx I won't actually know whether it's worked or not until I heal I guess
The other option was to have the implants removed, let everything settle down and then have another full anchor lift 6 months later xx I wasn't quite ready to have that done just yet xx
I just seen that you're PS is James MCDiarmid....? xx I'm sure that he will look after you Kerry xx He was the other PS I went to for a second opinion re my bottoming out and he was very very confident that he could have fixed me up using the technique I have just described above and had done xx
The only reason I didn't go to him to get fixed was because Transform are paying all my costs and they use the PS I ended up going to for all their 'problem' cases xx Also I preferred him xx But it was very very close xx James has quite a lot of experience in fixing bottoming out xx I would go and see him xx I'm sure you'll be fine xx

Well, yeah xx the PS who fixed me up said I will bottom out again xx due to the law of gravity........ just one of those things I guess xx
James seemed very confident when he spoke to me though, I'm sure you will be fine xx

Re: 8 months on and bottoming out :(
Hi,
I am with Mybreast and I have bottomed out. My nipples were pretty high straight away after surgery so I am sure it happened almost imediately.
My case has just gone to the board for a decision on a re-op. I had to write a letter stating my concerns and they will take it from there. I did say to them in my letter that I felt I should not incurr any further costs as it was something that was out of my control. I have found my whole booby journey quite stressful as I knew staright away they wern't right. I will let you know what Mybreast decide hun. I am sure James will look after you to xx

Re: 8 months on and bottoming out :(
Hi Butterfly,
That's crazy, why does it even have to get to that? You would think as this is something out of control there would be no question on a free re op :( I have also found it all quite stressful too right from pre op. I get the feeling this might be quite a long journey? I feel really unlucky as many people sail through for decades with no problems. How long ago did you have your op? Xx

Hi, I had my op Feb this year, what about you. Yeah very stressful hun and very long. Like you say why is just not a case of seeing your surgeon and then going ahead with re-op. I am hoping it's just a formality but i'm not holding my breath. It's just my luck and like you say most sail through xx

Unfortunately it can be very long indeed xx
My first op was May 2009 I just want my life back now xx Hence all the excitement for me is all gone xx I'm just on tender hooks to heal and get a semi normal result xx
Quite frankly I have had enough of boobs to last me a life time xx

Re: 8 months on and bottoming out :(
Hi Kerry
I too have bottomed out, went to see my ps last sat, and did agree, I too thought from early on they didnt look right, and decided to get it checked out. My surgeon prefers to wait till around 12 mths post op, and I only had the op in july of this year, he says it comes under my aftercare, and said I wont have to pay (I hope!) My other concerns are that will they bottom out again too..
As Ive been reading down this post, you got lots of info and support from the other girls on here, theyre fab, wish I'd found these sites before my surgery, I feel like I cant really talk to anyone else, none of my friends have had boob jobs, and I didnt really tell any of them till the last minute, they all not that supportive!!
Anyway, like the other girls say, get an appt arranged and see what they say, we'll all be wanting to hear the outcome, its not nice feeling like we do when its all not coming up roses! Try not to let it get you down, guess its not all plain sailing for some of us!! Best of luck xx

Thank you everyone.
Chelle- I know what you mean about friends, I don't know anybody else that I can talk to face to face about this. Unless people have been through it I don't think they understand. Thank goodness for this site!!! I bet July seems ages away for u:( As much as I want to bury my head in the sand I know I can't so today I made an appointment and James can fit me in this Saturday... And so begins the nervous wait xx

Re: 8 months on and bottoming out :(
Hi hun
I too bottomed out. Had my original op in Oct 09 and knew almost straight away that something wasnt right. I had them re done in April 10 but sadly they went again though not as bad (the first time was awful). I had another op in Oct 10 and this time i had some of the pocket rolled up underneath and stitched. I have stitches in now that will never dissolve. 5 weeks ago i had the left breast underneath scar revised but not cut down to the rolled up pocket.
They seem to be holding though i think they do now sit lower that i would like but they are better. I will probably always sleep in a bra now. Like Kay says it is difficult to put right but can be done. I have not paid for any of my ops and had a second opinion who said my ps was doing everything right. My ps has been fantastic all the way along i have not had to fight about anything he has been as gutted as me.
I hope you get it sorted without too much hassle, it is a very depressing thing to go through and takes over your life. I was and still am obsessed with how my boobs look now.
Thinking of you hun, let us know how you get on.
