Doctors opinions?
So I am Now home & in my information pack is a letter I can give to my doctor should I chose to. Does this mean it does not automatically go onto my notes?
Whilst at the hospital yesterday i had a very high pulse rate all day (at first put down to nerves) but by the evening they were concerned so called the doctor! Whilst he was there with me he went through a few questions & thinks I may have an overactive thyroid & has urged me to get it checked out by my family GP. Now obviously this means having a very open conversation with my doctor on how this has all come about. (thinking about it, I am amazed this has not been checked before now as I have all the symptoms but hey!)
I suppose I was just wondering if I would have to tell my Doctor about the BA or if it would show up on my medical notes when I see him next Tuesday? xx

IT doesn't automatically go on as far as I am aware. I was advised to tell my doctor incase anything happened to me relating to the ba. My doc did try to talk me out of it though! Obviously I ignored him lol. GOod luck x

Re: Doctors opinions?
You can choose not to have the op in your medical records as, I think, because it's private and elective surgery it shouldn't be necessary for future reference.
Re: Doctors opinions?
yes you will need to tell him
Is for the best babe that your doctor knows everything just in case anything (god forbid) should come up in the future
Aw sweetcarol boo my Doc was behind me 100% bless him AND he was about 60 was really expecting him to frown upon me but was very understanding :)

Re: Doctors opinions?
Interesting, the first thing my surgeon did was write to my GP to tell him what I was having done, where and when! I assume that will be added to my notes, but maybe I should check just in case it doesn't....
It's def better to inform your GP chick,if you thought something was up with your scars/wounds and couldn't get to the surgeon you'd have to go to the GP anyway. x

Thanks everyone for your replies. I don't have the most progressive Doctor in the world so not sure how he'll react. But hey it's my body! More concerned with getting the right diagnosis for the other symptoms i am having. Thx again xxx

Re: Doctors opinions?
I didn't give the letter to my Dr, although Transform did apply for my medical notes pre op and I went to my Dr a few years earlier about my boobs and depression but was refused point blank, so they could prob put 2 + 2 together. But it's not on my notes.

I think that if he says anything then he's out of order. They're supposed to be professionals, even if they don't agree with your choices I'm sure they can't say that to you.
Don't worry about him, just get yourself checked. x

I'm the same as Misf. I didnt give the letter to my GP. If anything happened or happens in relation to the BA I will tell them then...if I need to.

If you don't want to give your doctor the letter, then don't. And when you go in to get checked for your thyroid, just say you thought you'd get checked out because you seemed to have a lot of symptoms listed on netdoctor.co.uk or something!
Doctors are supposed to be be non-judgmental. If he's going to behave that way, then it's up to you to tell a little white lie if you want to!

Re: Doctors opinions?
It's a tricky one isn't it & I guess totally personal to you as to whether you inform your doctor or not.
Thanks Hun, might go down the route of discussing my symptoms first, as you are right this is totally unrelated to my BA. xxx

Re: Doctors opinions?
Yes, it is your choice to disclose your BA to your GP, or not. Personally, I would tell him after I got the BA done to let him know in case something happens. Most GP's will be against getting a procedure done like that because in their eyes, it is not necessary and they mostly view surgeries as something required, and not elective.
I'm in your shoes...I had my BA already but still have not told my GP. I figure the next time I see him or my gyno, I will then disclose that :) what are they going to do? Tell me to take them out? Well, they better give me money to do that lmao! j/k.
