Bra size advice...
I've been told by lots of people now that the old "add some on" system is rubbish, but I have a few questions....
My 34 band bras don't *seem* too loose, and I'm not sure if a lower band would feel uncomfortably tight? Do they? In fact when they're new they feel quite tight, although do ride up in the front and back.
Also....my current, pre op stats are 28.5 round the ribs,31 around the boobs. I wear a 34A now (sometimes even a B,I NOWHERE NEAR fill it,but it gives me a more padded look) which is far too big on the cup.
I'm beginning to think I must be a 32A maybe? There's literally nothing there atm,but obviously 34 sounds wrong for 28.5 inch ribs. What size would you say I was right now?!
Thank you,not sure why I'm so curious really,in 11 days time it won't matter!

I'm 28" and I also wear a 34, but not on the last hook. So that must mean I'm a 32. Unfortunately its not easy finding 32E bras in South Africa, so I just go with the 34DD, its so much easier to find and its comfy,

Re: Bra size advice...
I looked this up on google and found that if you want to find your band size you measure around ur ribcage just under your boobs, in inches, if it's an even number you add 4, if it's an odd number you add 5. So if you're 28.5, it depends whether you want to round down to 28 or up to 29 inches. So that would make you either a 32 or a 34 band size. Then you measure around your boobs at the nipple to get your cup size - take this second measurement and subtract your bandsize from it. I think if there is no difference, you are an A cup, then 1" difference is a B cup - check this on google as I can't remember right now exactly now about the cup sizes. Anyway, that's why cup size changes with bandsize, so if you go down toba 32 band size you may have to go up a cup size. I've found this varies alot from different brands and styles though, so there's no definitive way of telling - just go and try lots of bras on!
Hope that made sense, just realised it was a bit long and rambling, think my ga is still wearing off! Best of luck for your op xx

Re: Bra size advice...
This measurement system doesn't work. I've tried it, it puts me at a 34B cup, and I will never again fit into that.lol. I've actually found a way that does work for me. I measure just on top of my breasts, right under my arms (30") and then across my breast as the nipples (35") 1" dif =A, 2" dif=B etc. I have a 5" dif =DD, which is correct. I've also found a website that measures me correctly.

It's so weird! I found that this system worked for me but only in 1 shop lol! The other thing is I guess our boobs fluctuate in size as well, so I had a few in different sizes anyway for fat days etc! Happily none of them will fit any more, I'm looking forward to measuring the new boobs when I get home tomorrow, I'll def give that link a try xx

Re: Bra size advice...
hey there, I was told by the nurse at transform to get a bra that fastened at the back that would not have to go over your head, ie not a racer style.
I took my Macom compression bra with me (this does up at the front), as well as 3 ASDA sports ones in different sizes and the nurse chose the ASDA one! They do the bra up for you anyway so you don't need to worry about having a front fastening. The asda ones are £4 each and I'm going to take back the ones that are the wrong size and swap them later... I kind of wish I hadn't bothered with the expensive Macom one now, but I think I can return it anyway...

Re: Bra size advice...
You would be a 30A with those measurements. The add 4 etc is a useless out dated system. The girls who measure small who are wearing 34's etc at the moment are very early post op so probably have swelling still. It would probably be a good idea to buy 34 band sports bra for imediatly post op to cope with the swelling. But you will be having quite big implants so will need a lot of support post op. The support comes from the band.
Re: Bra size advice...
Thanks everyone. I have bought 34D bras for the op,so hopefully they'll be ok. Although they do seem very tight atm so I might try wearing them in this week to loosen them up a bit before next Thursday!
I cannot wait until I'm healed, and can get measured without feeling a fool, and wear actual fitting bras!!

Re: Bra size advice...
Hiya, a couple of weeks before I booked for my ba I went to get some new knickers from Debenhams. While I was there I thought Id have a try of a gel-filled monster to see what I might look like. I took the size I had been wearing for an age into the fitting room - it was a 36a. The very nice lady in the fitting room introduced herself as the bra-fitting lady and asked if I would like some help. Im so glad I did. I had, for years struggled to get bras to fit well. As Id lost so much weight I thought i needed an a cup - i didnt know until then about BWD and I had been wearing a too small cup for yonks she said - she told me, without measuring! that I was a 34b - I nearly laughed in her face cos I was sooooo flat chested I thought no way would I be a b cup - but you know what - the bras she brought me fit so so well I couldnt get over it! I didnt have the heart to tell her that in a couple of weeks all would change anyway - i even bought a new bra in a 34b just to wear in the lead up to my ba cos it fit so well.
Sorry, what I was trying to say - with much rambling - was go to your nearest Debenhams - they have trained ladies there in the lingerie dept and if the one in yours is as great as the one I saw she will help you measure PROPERLY. Up until the 18th Id say that was the best thing Id done boobie wise in ages ... after the 18th all changed. When I am able to get back to proper bras I will DEFINATELY go back to see her.
I bought a 36c sports bra to wear for after thinking the extra bit on the band would be more comfy but then 2 days post op I had to get a 36d cos I was squashed. Spose the size sports bra cup you need to get is based on the size implant you getting plus some allowance for swelling.
x
