symptoms of rupture or capsular contraction Empty symptoms of rupture or capsular contraction

Post by janeella 14th October 2011, 9:07 pm

hi girls, ive always had a bit of uncomfortableness on and off with my left boobie ever since my ba in may last year with MYA and when i exercise it feels like a hard ball inside, and then about 3 months ago i was in my car when someone went up my bum, it was a really minor accident, i was stationary and he was going about 20/30mph. it didnt impact my boobs atall but i was worried and so i had an ultrasound carried out at my hospital and the consultant said it felt fine but agreed to an ultrasound but said that an ultrasound is a blunt instrument and only an mri scan would detect a rupture. its got worse to the point now that my i cant even lay on my left side at night because its too uncomfortable to lay against the boob so my life is being affected, im getting pains down my arm and over my collar bone. my actual boob doesnt hurt though. I had a raised gland under my armpit a couple weeks ago and went to my docs who said to go back if it doesnt go down, went back mon and the doc said its not related to my boobs and thats all the doctors say when I go there.

I thought I would see if the insurance company would organise an mri so i contacted them and then discovered they were applying for my gp notes so im not going to hold my breath for them to pay for it because all my notes indicate that they think there is no rupture, so im stuck.

Im totally worried, are these symptoms of a rupture or capsular contraction, I did think it was capsular contraction but are the symptoms im having common of cc or a rupture. Can anyone help cause I dont know which way to go forward, i just dont want to carry on living with this pain :(, if it is cc then it must be getting worse because theyve never been like this but every time I look in the mirror they dont seem to look distorted and only feel hard inside if that makes sense, not really to touch, and if it is a rupture then I really want it replaced.

Sorry for the long post xxx

You could go back to your surgeon at MYA and he/she will be able to check your breasts for capsular contracture, it may be a rupture and you should be able to go to your GP for a referal to the breast clinic on the NHS who should be able to send you for an MRI scan. I would think it sounds more like CC but I am no expert. You would still be covered by MYA for CC.

hiya hun thanks for replying. i see you had your ba with mr chantarasak too. I went back to him loads last year when i was having the problems with my leftie and he said he thought i had cc, but said he would only re-operate if it was at the worst grade. i was so disappointed because it was causing me problems but it calmed down but now its got so much worse to the point it hurts to wear a bra but the worse thing is not being able to sleep on my left side at night, im so gutted, and my dilemma is:

if i go back to mya and they agree to re-operate (IF), it will only be on my left boob and there may be a cjance it happens again.

OR

do i live with the pain and get my boobs done again when i can afford it and go bigger because theyre not as big as i wanted.

its such a hard decision because im in so much pain but only want to have a re-operation once if i can help it xx

It's a difficult one hun, it may be worth going back if the CC has got worse, if it's causing you pain hun I would go get it looked at again, they may be able to do something about it. Yes it will only be on one boob and yes there is a chance of it happening again, but they may use different implants or swap from over to under etc. I would really suggest going back though.

You may have to have many ops in your life hun, dont worry about those, it's the quality of life in between those ops.

thanks hun, mr c did an amazing job but i defo want to go bigger but in the meantime you hit the nail on the head its thequality of life in between. i just wanted to find the best surgeon this time if its a case of a re-op and mario russo stuckout but then its a case of travelling again and i had a consultation with james mcdiarmid and he has been fantastic replying to all of my emails, and he seems amazing. ive had a few ops so that dont bother me (ectopic pregnancy and sinus op) but i so want to minimise the chance of cc again and figured someone who specialises in reconstruction would be the best. your boobs look amazing. i definately want mine bigger if im going to have to have my left one done again or is it better the devil you know and just get my left one done, my right one causes me no problems whatsoever xxx
