Drains from the nipple?!
Did anyone ever have/hear of drains that come out of the nipples? I had a consultation yesterday and the surgeon gave me two options and when he mentioned this one I kept staring at him

They are a very small tube hun, hopefully it won't be too sore when they take them out. You'll be on pain killers.

Re: Drains from the nipple?!
He said that he will make the incision under the breast but I still have a choice of having the drains coming out of the nipple because that's one scar less. I told him "why don't you use the same incision under the breast?" he said no because that will give you a higher risk of infection. Then my next question was whether the drains from the nipple are damaging and he said "the milk ducts will be damaged slightly and nipple sensitivity"... so i told him "thank you but no thank you". I much rather have another small scar and have the drains under the breast.

Ive never heard of a nipple drain, why would he want to do that if the incision is under the crease??
The drain part is making me feel queasy not looking forward to that if i need them.

I thought you were having a nipple incision, with drains coming out of them, doh! God thats the weirdest thing I've ever heard, a tiny little scar for the drain is much better.

Re: Drains from the nipple?!
I had drains, and they came out of these random little dot holes about an inch or so down and to the side of my crease incisions... at the moment they are like tiny little scabs, and once they heal over, I don't think I'll even be able to find them! They are about the size of a pimple, and will probably heal in a similar fashion...
I would have said thanks but no thanks to the nipple drains, too though... that would freak me out....

Re: Drains from the nipple?!
I agree with all of you girls, in fact I told him to put the drains underneath my breast. I had no idea the drains come out from a separate incision [and not the main one used for the implants]. But as kiwigirl said, it is sooo small that you can't really see it once healed. Thank you so much for commenting everyone, now I know that I did the right choice xxx

Re: Drains from the nipple?!
In the end I had nipple drains. The surgeon didn't give me a choice, I just woke up and saw them. They are not painful, you don't even feel them. However, when the pull them out you see lots of stars, birds and fireworks flying around you. I was p!ssed off and told my surgeon "what a sweet suprise" and he was very positive and said that nipple drains are the least painful and that they do not leave an extra scar because they come out from a natural scar (centre of the nipple) and there's less chance of infection. He said no damage is done to the nipple either.
