who pays for the re-op?
Would a surgeon be reluctant to perform revision surgery because he would be losing money? Or would (in my case) Harley Medical pay for it? Anyone know? Xx
Re: who pays for the re-op?
Hi Hun I'm not much help sorry as I dont have the answer but was just wondering why you need revision surgery? I'm only 17 days po and know it's only early days but the difference in my breasts is awful and I've been taking pictures daily and it's getting worse and already scared thinking I may need revision surgery. I love my left boob but the right is a horrible shape and now nearly 2 inches higher than the right.

Re: who pays for the re-op?
Well I'm sure the surgeon is on salary at Harley Medical - I don't know if they get a bonus per surgery or anything like that...but they'd make their salary either way.
Of course, I'm sure Harley doesn't "encourage" revision ops.
Lauren, try not to stress sweetie, I'm 21 days and my rightie is still higher than leftie, but I'm told it can be 6 months to a year until they're soft and fluffy and even.

Re: who pays for the re-op?
they say it it takes ages for breasts to drop and setlle right so they would definately wait months probably a year or so before re-surgery is a possiblity as theyll see if the problem sorts itself out. boobs can drop seperately at diff rates and can take months from reading it seems pretty common. If its been a long time and you still arnt happy then definately look into it whats the problem exactly? If the your boobs are completely different levels for example 18 months after and its incredibly noticable surely a reputable company would fix it free of charge. Check the aftercare policy and contact them xxx

Re: who pays for the re-op?
My surgeon made new lower creases on both breasts and the nevert blended in. I now have two creases obvious on each breast, like double bubble. Every surgeon I've sent pics to has said I need a revision. I don't trust my surgeon anymore xx

Re: who pays for the re-op?
Thanks girls. I know tuberous breasts are the most difficult starting point, but he should have performed the surgery if he wasn't confident. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. I will keep you posted girls xx
Re: who pays for the re-op?
I'm up for a re op soon and I will have to pay for some of it. The implant he put in is to small for my existing breast tissue. I am feeling a bit annoyed because he picked the implant. I too have a fold line that I think with a bigger implant will getbetter. I am interested to see how you go. It's nit fun being in this situation.

Re: who pays for the re-op?
it depends really. MyBreast paid for my re-op because it was the surgeon who made all the decisions. in my case he told me i didnt need a lift, but it turns out i did, so he did the re-op, no questions asked.
If it had been me who'd refused an uplift and then it didnt turn out like i expected, then it would have been me liable for the cost.
In your case, id say surgeon was liable for the cost of the revision, but not all companies are the same, and some will put obstacles in your way.
good luck x

Re: who pays for the re-op?
I've been to see a specialist NHS surgeon today, you know, the kind of surgeon who works on breasts because they need reconstructing, not the kind in the Armani suit who just wants to take our money?! Yes you can see where this is going...
Having tuberous breasts, my surgeon was supposed to cut away the ridge behing my old crease, to make the new ones below. HE DIDN'T.
My surgeon told me 'they will never be closer together'. LIE. Apparently it's practise to cut away pockets inbetween and place the implants closer together, simple.
He should not have used a normal round implant. HE DID.
I am LIVID. I feel as though my surgeon was out of his depths dealing with my case. He should have passed me on to a surgeon who is used to dealing with tuberous breasts.
To think, I could have got this done on the NHS too, and they would probably look normal now.
THANKS VERY MUCH DR BERNARD SLEITER, THE HARLEY MEDICAL GROUP.

Re: who pays for the re-op?
In that case you should definitely NOT have to pay for the re-op. I can totally understand why you're fuming, hope you get everything sorted soon. x

Re: who pays for the re-op?
Tanyajade you need to go back and see your ps, or at least someone from the HMG, if the surgeon is at fault you should be able to get a re-op hun. I really feel for you, you've put your trust in this ps, and you're obviously not happy, but you'll need to see him to get the ball rolling for a re-op to put things right.

Re: who pays for the re-op?
The re-op would be free girls (if he acknowledges it). It's not the point, I now feel like he was under-qualified/underexperienced working with tuberous breasts to operate on me.
I don't know if I will be able to keep my cool on Tuesday when I see him. He's made me live with these horrible breasts for 12 months, probably knowing they weren't going to get any better.
I don't really want him performing the re-op. And I also think I should be compensated, he didn't know what he was doing. And I'll be risking my life AGAIN having the op done, CORRECTING HIS MISTAKES. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
The NHS surgeon was fabulous, so much more experienced and he really knew what he was talking about. He said, if Sleiter says no to the re-op, he's behind me and will get referrences of other specialist surgeons for me to fight him and Harley Medical! xx
