BWD and width of implant
Hi,
I have a question regarding the width of my implant. Basically my surgeon without doing any measurements has recommended a 295cc high profile implant measuring 11.25cms at base. I have measured my BWD at 13.5/14 cms. I want a natural look and to be able to create a cleavage (although my surgeon has said that this depends on the size of your sternum). Should I be going for a moderate profile which will be wider at the base?
On the internet some surgeons seem to almost have a calculation that the implant should not be more than 1.5cms less than your BWD. Is this correct? In which case my implants are too narrow.
If it makes any difference to my question, my rib cage is 29.5cms and I wear a 34B and would like to be a full C cup but absolutely no bigger than a D.

Re: BWD and width of implant
I know this is for a surgeon to answer and he'll be able to tell you about the bwd and implant diameter. However I think you are wearing the wrong size bra. With your under bust measurement of 29.5 you should be wearing a 30 band maybe even a 32 if you fit in a 34b at the moment then because when you go down a band size you go up a cup size you should probably be wearing a 30d or 32c
Re: BWD and width of implant
Hi,
I'm pretty sure I'm a 34B. Been measured on two occassions previous and have never been told any different.
According to bra size calculators available on the net you are supposed to add on 4 inches to your under bust measurement to get your bra back size so for me 29.5" + 4" = 33.5" so I'd round up to 34. I wish I was a 30D he he :-)

Re: BWD and width of implant
That is the old fashioned method of measuring. Bra makers no longer use the + 4 inches to make the bras. Some shops still use it to measure I think m&s are a major culprit. A 30d is the same as a 34b so it doesn't mean you are any bigger, just your band size is smaller. I don't think it will matter pre ba you can wear what you like. But post ba your new boobs will need proper support and the band is the part which gives you the most support. You should only be able to fit two fingers under your bra band and it should be very snug.
Re: BWD and width of implant
The bands on my 34's are pretty loose to be fair as the material just seems to give after a couple of wears. Will make sure I am measured properly post BA though, thanks for the advice.

Re: BWD and width of implant
It could depend on where you put weight on, if you put weight on your boobs and around your ribs and back you may indeed go up a cup size and a band size. It's always best to get fitted into a bra but for an idea of your size there is a guide click here
Re: BWD and width of implant
