P'ed off after supposed 6wk check-up!!!
6wks Post Op...
Well I've finally made it to the 6 week mark!!!
I've been through so many changes already and now I've hit the infamous milestone that every one gets excited about... mostly due to the fact that it means NO MORE SPORTS BRA!!!
After reading everyone else's stories on here about what the 6wk check up is like I was really excited and looking forward to mine. The girls on here had mentioned that during this time they got the all clear to wear normal bras, their scars were checked to make sure they were healing the way they should, they were given advice, had their 'After' photo's taken and were able to ask questions about anything that they were unsure of...
Well I had mine 2days ago and... Was I in for a shock!
After driving for nearly an hour and sitting in endless traffic I got to my appointment at Transforms clinic in North London where I was told by the young nurse that she was just going to take photo's. She asked me how I was feeling and I said I was doing great, except my right boob is still a bit bigger than the left and I asked her if it was possible for it to still have some swelling, or is this gonna be it. She told me that I could still have swelling for up to 3months. I could make an appointment to see the surgeon if I wanted to. She asked me to take my top and bra off for the photo's. She said that my boobs looked great. She took the photo's and basically that was the end of the 'CHECK UP'. She said if I had any questions I should ring the clinic. But hold on.. wasn't I in the bloody clinic!!!
I had to ask her if it was ok to start wearing normal bras again to which she replied 'Yes but start slowly. Maybe wear it for a couple of hours then go back to the sports bra, and go from there'. I had so many questions but from the look on her face and her response to some of the things that I said I could tell she didn't hava a flipping clue! From other stories that I've read on here the girls have said that they've had a 12wk appointment and most, if not all have seen their surgeon again post op. This nurse told me that this was it, I didn't have anymore appointments, I'm all done! The whole thing took about 5mins. My husband was waiting for me in the car, when I came back he was like 'That was quick!!!'. When I told him what had happened we were both like WTF!!!! So I've paid them nearly 4k, I've had the op, I look fine, so see ya later!

Re: P'ed off after supposed 6wk check-up!!!
I was absolutely livid, could not believe what just happened. Had non of my questions answered and quite frankly the survice I was given was Shhhite!!!
I phoned the clinic manager yesterday and told her what happened during my supposed 'check up' and she apologised, saying that the nurse I saw was a 'TEMP' and the resident nurse had taken leave for personal reasons. Then she thanked me for bringing the matter to her attention. I told her I want someone 'qualified' to take a look at me and answer my questions. She said that one of the nurses who works at the Abbey Riverside hospital would be in on Thursday so she made me another appointment. So now I have to drive all the way back there . Funny thing is when I told her that one of my boobs is slightly bigger than the other she then went on to say that 'Thats what happens here, one side heals faster than the other. Its the same when I have my lips done, one side is always bigger than the other'.
Really!... They need to put that in the soddingg advert!!!

Re: P'ed off after supposed 6wk check-up!!!
Didn't the nurse check your scars hun. I'd ring transform and make a 3 month appointment with your surgeon
Re: P'ed off after supposed 6wk check-up!!!
I have mine coming up on Monday and I am also concerned with one boob bigger than the other and wonky nipples and lumpy scars and soreness and itching lol i will simply not go home until i see a qualified nurse to get my questions answered.
I was also told that 6 weeks is just a medical check up, rather than cosmetical, so the questions like why one boob is bigger will have to wait till 3 months check up with the surgeon and then taken from there. I am more concerned with soreness of my boobs where i cant even touch them, its sore and uncomfortable :(
MsLondon - are you sore at all? lumpy scars?

MsLondon I think I have the same PC and nurse at you....Pia at Finchley clinic right and Lola the nurse? I quite liked lola at pre op but she's away for personal reasons i was told (had 8 days post op with blonde temp ozzie girl who seemed clueless about boobs) and i like Pia too beause she is so blase and silly (but thats just me).
They are a bit wham, bam, thank you m'am there. i agree. bit annoying when its such a big deal and you are literally carrying these healing boobies around with you everyday.
I'm not impressed with them either.
Which surgeon did you have?
I'm going to make sure i get a proper nurse when i go for my 6 week check xxxxx

Re: P'ed off after supposed 6wk check-up!!!
Oh no thats terrible! Ive got my 6 week check at the new cavendish street clinic next thursday and i was hoping to have a detailed discussion with my surgeon and a physical check up. Im still sore and my nipples feel like someones giving them a chinese burn! You was right to complain, weve paid 4k and dont deserve to be fobbed off with a 30 second appointment. Bit worried now :(

Re: P'ed off after supposed 6wk check-up!!!
I had my stitches out after a week and then was told to book an appointment for 3mths.I went with mybreast and the fantastic James mcdiarmid but I had alot of questions.the nurse just said after taking my stitches out don't do any jogging or running till the 8week mark and get fitted for a wired bra at the 6week mark.I felt my check up was a bit rushed!and to not see anyone wen you r in the crucial healing stages is making me feel abit on my own,it is abit like wham bam thanku mam!lolhave been on here most days though and to read that other girls are going through the same as me makes me feel better and also James is on here too, bonus!god I dunno what I wud do without this forum!!!

Re: P'ed off after supposed 6wk check-up!!!
Sorry Ladies I haven't been on here for a few days, I've been so busy.
Misf1, no the nurse didn't look at my stitches which sent alarm bells ringing. Everytime I asked her a question she had this look on her face like she was trying really hard to think of an answer that would sound the most fitting, but really didn't have a clue. Told me to ring the clinic, when I was stood righ there .
@minxy, no I'm not sore anymore. I had a bit of itching around the sides of the implant, which I thought was weird but I think my sports bra was tight around that area. I've only just stopped wearing it during the day and its fine now. My scars have healed well so far, I hope that doesnt change. I hope it all goes well on Monday.
@starsfade, yes we do have the same PC. I thought Lola was fantastic and was really looking forward to seeing her again post op. She was lovely and I felt really confortable with her. I saw a different nurse at 9days who at least seemed to know what she was talking about. It doesn't inspire confidence when you are talking to a medical professional and its looks like they are blagging it.
I had Mr Meleagros, I am pleased with his work but I just wanted to know that everything was as it should be. I've never had a BA before so this is all new to me.
@evee123, Hopefully I was just unlucky!
Make sure you write down all of your questions so you dont forget anything. I'm sure your attp. will go well x x
@kay, it was a major let down but to be fair I did see another nurse on Thursday who was brilliant. If there is a problem then you definitely have to complain!!!
@natty29, I know exactly what you mean. Honestly, if it wasnt for this site I think I would have been ringing the clinic every 5mins. There's so much invaluable information on here and everyone's so supportive, you never feel like your being a pest or asking a stupid question. I'd be completely lost if I hadn't found this site.

Re: P'ed off after supposed 6wk check-up!!!
Just a quick update:
Another appointment was made for me to see another nurse from the Abbey Riverside hospital last Thursday and she was brilliant! I had all of my questions written down before I went in there and she answered them all, giving definitive answers!!!
She examined my scars and told me that they were healing really well. She told me that I needed to get professionally measured. The last nurse had said that I was all done now. This nurse assured me that this was not the case and said I needed to come back in 6wks for my 3month check up with the surgeon. Everything was so much more professional and how I had imagined it to be in the 1st place. I left there feeling so much better and a lot happier. She also explained that I could come back to the clinic anytime after my 3month check if I had any concerns, for up to 3yrs.
