i am a 'don't leave the house without make-up' kinda gal, although i dont overdo it, but was just wondering if one is allowed to wear a bit of make up during surgery or will they ask me to remove it?

Post by Jennifer2011 28th July 2011, 5:04 pm

I'm the exact same, don't even like to answer the door without my make up on! haha!
I braved it and wore none at all for the whole journey to the hospital. The rule is no make-up, don't worry, they won't be worrying what your face looks like! lol
I put some on for my journey home though! Xxx

I hate being without my make-up as well. They told me no make-up or nail polish because they need to keep a check on your natural color in your nails and skin. It's an indicater if something goes wrong and your color changes in those two areas.

They let me keep my toe nail polish on. I wore a small amount of concealer and powder but was asked to remove it. They need to be able to see your face au naturel in the op x

I am the same!

I wore one coat of mascara and a few swipes of bronzer just to take that near dead color from my face Make up to hospital? 557141

I still felt unattractive but when I woke up with my new boobs I could care less about my face!

Wow! Good to know! Great question, I didn't even think about this before. Hm...no make up...good thing I'll have big boobs when I wake up to distract myself from how horrible I must look! Hysterical

I didn't wear any makeup to the hospital. It was fine because it was so early in the morning and I was just getting in the car with hubby anyway. I guess you could if you wanted to tho, and just take wipes to remove it when you get there? I felt great the morning after my op and put some face on then.

I had a few surgeries at the past and I always had some make up on my face..I don't move without mascara and eyeliner ...and if my period is around I always have a few spots on my face Blush to hide...so as long as you don't look like going to the party you should be fine:)

Along with the make up can you still wear nail extensions or do you have to have these taken off?

I know my nail beds look a completely different colour when I have my extensions on to what they do when I have a break from them,

They ask if your nails are real in the pre op, so I assume they'd ask you to remove any nail extensions etc. Xx

I got myself a few days in the sun befor my surgery so I never wore make but had a little natural glow so if ur going to be a bit self conscious maybe try doing this ? But not fake tan as they arnt happy about that! Lol,

Also the nails -- they put a little peg on ur finer to monitor ur HR etc and so no substance can be on the nail at all - no falsers or anything ,

Hope this helps xxxx

I never leave the house without make up and I had a little make up when I went to the clinic. I removed it before the surgery. I wasn't asked to do so, but I thought it would be the best.

The next morning after the surgery I was too tired to care about how my face looked, so I didn't even bother. :D
