Help on what I need for Post op PLEASE
Hi ladies,
I need your help!!!!
My BA is 17th July. Very nervious!!!!
I am only 32yrs,size 10,9.8stone and 34A/AA so I think im getting 300cc under
as I dont have much skin/breast to stretch.
I am a single parent. I’m going in as a day case. My oldest son will be there
for me(14yr). I hope I will be ok as I am trying to get info from every post
about what to get for afterwards. As I don't have any family around me...I’m
going solo. It's just my son and me.
I am going to buy: V-pillow as girls have said this will help me sleep.
Pre-pack foods for me and my son. He will have to
play mummy for a day or so and help feed my 3 dogs.
I will have to buy some sort of painkillers as i was told they only give my
suphedrine when I go home that day. Im not sure if I need anti-inflammatory or
bruising tablets. All so new to me.
Oh, does anyone have any advice on what clothing I should wear for the first
two weeks??
Any advice will be gratefully received

Re: Help on what I need for Post op PLEASE
Can ibruprophen be brought in the chemist or will I need to a doctor?
How is the pain for you Kayleigh now? I am dreading the pain as I'm a day cased so I won't be getting much help on pain.
Are you sleeping ok. My friend said I should take sleeping tablets for a few days as I'm an extremely light sleeper and would help for pain. My only concern is that I won't sleep later on at night. I just don't know.

Yes you can get ibprophen at the chemist its just a mild pain tablet with anti inflammatory I went to that on day three. I also reccommend some thing for tummy discomfort as the GA can upset the tummy, I had both tablets and antigas pills to help with bloating and I had prunes which I ate every day to keep my bowels going as you can get constipated post op. (Drink lots of water it helps!) Also, for clothing I wore tops that I could either button up or step into as you wont be able to pull over your head for a few days.
You will be uncomfortable but you will be ok, your 14 yr old will be fine too.
Best of luck !!!!! x

Re: Help on what I need for Post op PLEASE
Hi,
You won't be allowed to drive home after the surgery (nor will you feel able to) so you'll need to get someone to pick you up/book a cab.
Zip up tops & trousers that don't need much pulling to get on are a great idea (i.e. No skinny jeans!).
A comfy sports/post surgery bra makes a huge difference. I got mine from Macom (google!) - they are amazingly comfortable!
I used Senokot for a few days after my op to help get things moving again after the GA. Definitely worth getting some in before your op.
I had unders too (partial) & honestly the pain was no way as bad as I'd imagined it would be. Yes, it is pretty uncomfortable for a few days but not painful as such. I went to my daughters sports day at 3 days post op & stopped taking pain meds at 5 days post op. I would get a supply of paracetamol in - they work just fine.
I would say that at 8/9 days I felt almost normal again & now I often forget that I've had it done (apart from having fabulous boobs of course!). I've still not hoovered yet or properly picked up my 2 year old but I feel as though I definately could do it but trying to hold off as long as possible!
Hope that helps. Good luck! X

Re: Help on what I need for Post op PLEASE
Hi Davina I'm 4 days post op after uplift/BA and found that wedge pillow and V pillow have been brilliant to help me sleep. I've been drinking tons of water to help flush out GA. Cold compress or something similar provided some relief in first 2 days.
I would ask your hospital to recommend or provide you with the painkillers as they should give you an initial supply. Also have some nice comfort food along with mags/DVDs to see you through the first few days xx

Re: Help on what I need for Post op PLEASE
Hi there! Here are some suggestions that I am considering:
Fruit is always nice to have around, no prep needed. In general, a stocked fridge would be good
Drinking straws sometimes help when it's too difficult to lift your glass :-/
A back scratcher!
cold press for boobies
hot pad for back
dulcolax (stool softener), as constipation is a common side effect of the heavy duty pain killers
Gatorade or some similar drink with electrolytes
And if you're super anal like me, it may be good to do the laundry, clean the house, change the kitty litter, shave your legs, tweeze, take a shower, etc. just prior to your BA...That way you arrive to a clean home without any worries!!!
xoox

Re: Help on what I need for Post op PLEASE
Don't take the ibuprofen before your surgery for at LEAST 48 hours...and a few days after unless your dr okays it it thins your blood and could cause unnecessary extra bleeding during surgery and healing right after - just use ice packs (peas in baggies work GREAT!) Expect to feel like a bloated cow lol!! I'm just now zipping my pants properly and feeling energetic!!

Re: Help on what I need for Post op PLEASE
Was just going to mention painkillers - I'm not boobed up yet but it'd probably be a good idea to see your GP for advice on painkillers. 1) because there might be a reason to avoid some, like Knxgrl said, and 2) with a doctor's permission you can sometimes increase the dosage from what it says on the packaging - for example, indigestion remedies tend to advise a 75mg dose or an absolute max of 150mg, but my doctor prescribed me 300mg when I was ill so I'd sometimes run out and buy the over-the-counter versions and have to take 4 pills at once lol, looked like a proper addict and I did get asked once if I was trying to kill myself (with 4 Tesco own-brand indigestion pills...?) but your GP will know what's okay for your particular situation, including allergies, general health, weight, water levels, any other conditions, the surgery etc =]
Re: Help on what I need for Post op PLEASE
Definately shave the armpits JUST before! Its really difficult for a couple of weeks after.
Baggy comfy clothes that go on and off easily.
Frozen wine cooler sleeve (use to apply to reduce swelling, especially at end of the day)
Make sure all the washing is done.
Put everything u may need in easy reach. Stretching to reach for things (eg Cups/glasses in cupboards) is sore n difficult.

Re: Help on what I need for Post op PLEASE
do your shaving needs, i forgot and regretted it lol!! hairy mary! i had to get my mum to help me! some people say to get paper plates so you have no washing up to do, straws are good too! zip up loose clothes or stretchy strappy tops were comfy for me. my pain was high for the first 10 days but with ibuprofen which my doc prescribed me it was bearable. sleeping was okay with lots of pillows it was just the getting out of bed for a pee that was difficult! evrybodys different and will have different experiences but you seem prepared and sounds like you have a fab supportive son to help you and good luck x
