What's the technique for selecting larger implant?
I got saline implants on May 17, 2011. I am not as large as I was told I would be and want to pursue going through this all over again to obtain what I wanted to begin with.
When I started with my doctor, the technique they used for me to make my selection was to actually stuff different size saline implants inside my bra. Not very scientific.
So here are my questions around this:
1.) If I already have implants, stuffing more implants in my bra is not really accurate, is it?
2.) What other methods have been or are used to determine implant size? (either before BA and/or after.)
3.) My doctor says bra cup size is relative and all bras of the same cup will fit differently, so he won't talk in terms of cup size and only talks in terms of cc's. Fine, but I can't buy bras based on cc's. How is this measured and translated!? So frustrating!
Thanks in advance ladies!!

Mine had a method of measuring length from clavicle to nipple, nipple to nipple, rib size, etc and calculated a range that fell into a category on the implant manufacturer's recommendation chart. Stuffing implants in your bra might give a rough "idea" of what look you're going for but I wouldn't really trust that guy to cut me open based on a guestimate! Can you consult with another surgeon?

Re: What's the technique for selecting larger implant?
I guess I'll need to add my cc's to my profile. I get asked this a lot.
I received Natrelle's, R 510cc & L 540cc. I am now a full C, bordering a D cup based on what bras I can fit into. (Again, I am repeating myself, sorry, but I told them I was targeting a minimum of DD cup size.)
I have an appt with my surgeon at the 6 month mark (November 2011) and will make one with another I found that is certified and has good reviews. No one will see me or comment until after 6 months though. I did express my dissatisfaction, but I bet they did not document it.

No, I haven't found a doctor that is willing to see me until my boobies have relaxed, fluffed, softened and settled to where they will set in order for them to know what options or advice to give me. I just have to wait it out.
And I am prepared to pay for a re-op, I am just waiting to see if my surgeon is willing to offer something financially beneficial to stay with him. If not, I will pursue a surgeon that is more geographically desireable.
In my mind, I thought, "Great, boob job once and I'm set!" NOPE! Torture waiting and treated like I have the plague!

i take it you had them under the muscle if so they will take a while to drop and fluff so you may just have to be patient and see what happens you may be suprised.
p/s are very rarely good with bra sizes to be honest your better off cutting out piccys and taking them in and saying id like to be similar to this size please, these are the boobies i like then also show boobs you dont like the look of then he shouldent be confused.

I'm struggling to see how you have had 510cc's and only gone up from a B to a large C cup.
I think you have some fluffing to do, or perhaps need to get re measured....
Otherwise, good luck with your search for a new surgeon, hope you are satisfied in the end.

I am really worried that I won't end up with the size I want either!!
I am so sorry you have to go through this, maybe once they settle in and fluff and soften you'll end up liking them
Good luck, and keep us updated!

Me too i had 525cc from an a cup and im now in 34e bras, and i have unders to, u must have loads of fluffing to do. And its quite right surgeons these days willnot work on size its cc, they can only put the ammount off cc in body as far as your skin will stretch, thats why people have numerous of boob jobs to get to there desired size. i very much doubt you will get a re-op free of charge down to the size.. And i no they will not re-op on you till 6months till you boobs have fully settled xxx

LET THE FLUFFING BEGIN! I can't wait to get an understanding of this fluffing term. I am now 2 months since surgery, so... tic-tock-tic-tock! LOL!
I love one boob and the other, not so much yet.

Re: What's the technique for selecting larger implant?
By the way, I might be experiencing FLUFFING now because a button-up shirt I wore before is now popping buttons open today! Yayayayyaya! Haha!
Re: What's the technique for selecting larger implant?
what exactly does " fluffing " mean? I feel like a dum dum for not knowing!

Re: What's the technique for selecting larger implant?
@ Miss Pepper = Wow, you're 5 days since surgery. Congratulations! You will love them more and more as time goes.
The best I can tell from what I've read on here, is that "fluffing" is how the breasts enlarge after the trauma of surgery and the muscles stop contracting and they and the tissues start relaxing and taking shape. My right better catch up with the left though!! I feel like a weirdo with one so much larger than the other still.

I'm checking to see if I got the 'ticker' thing pasted correctly. I don't know how or where to put it, but I like it!!
Re: What's the technique for selecting larger implant?

Re: What's the technique for selecting larger implant?
i had to try on implants but she said they look bigger cuz there sitting on my boob and wen i have them done they will be in your boob if that makes sence. i told my surgeon i wanted to be DD and he measured my collor to my nipple then nipple to my side to see what implant would fit x

Re: What's the technique for selecting larger implant?
@ Barbiecon = I wish my doc office would have told me that. And no one took any measurements (at least not while I was awake.) I'm starting to worry about my doctor and his staff there!!
@ Miss Pepper = Let's see if I did it right this time! (:

Re: What's the technique for selecting larger implant?
i didnt have any measurents taken and im going for a re op the only thing the surgeon could do was ask what size implants i had in which were 290cc , we decided he could take me to 700cc so he juat gave me a 400cc implant to place inside my bra which should give the size of the 700cc implant on top of my 290cc's or there abouts, hope that helps hun x
