What are the pitfalls of having a larger implant
Hi All,
I am thinking that if I have to have my implants replaced (Pips) I would like to go bigger
I think, I currently have 420cc which sounds quite big but I am quite broad and a 5ft6 size 12. I am currently in a 34DD.
From reading posts on here about some surgeons being reluctant to put large sized implants in I just wondered why this was?
Is their any pitfalls to having larger implants fitted other than the weight?
Thanks x

Hi hun, i think the problems with going bigger would be higher chance of rippling, CC, double bubble or bottoming out
But you can discuss the possible risks and going bigger with the surgeon, he/she may feel you would be able to accomodate bigger on your frame.

Re: What are the pitfalls of having a larger implant
I think they also head south quicker due to the weight of the implant! my surgon said that gravity plays a big part in how long bigger implant will look good intill they need to be redone with the posibbilite of needing a uplife to in the future.....
I do get what he means as i have 460cc & with out a bra they feel really heavy!............I didnt need a uplife even thou i had 3 kids & breast feed I what little i had lol remained quite pert ( probably as had nothing left)
I also had a friend who was already a 34 D then had really bug implants as she was told this would fill out her baggy saggy skin but now she is a 34G with boobs down to her belly button & she is gutted.
I think along with what cookie said with the rippeling & cc you have to take into account gravity lol
What size would you be thinking.......I was told anythin over 400cc is classed as a large implant anyway.

Well I think I would like to go a few cup sizes bigger. On my frame I could get away with it I think.
How many CCs on average = a cup size?

It's not exact but it's aprox 100-150cc per cup size

I haven't said a word!.... yet!
Larger implants will feel heavy, not at first though as the skin is tight and holding them securely, but over time as Crystal said, the skin relaxes more, with my 460s I could feel the weight by the time they came out at 3 years old, it's the reason I'm very careful with my new additions and keep 'em well supported - If your skin is prone to sagging, you use sunbeds/sunbathe, you smoke, pregnancy or just age related, all are factors in the aesthetic lifetime of your breasts as well as the additional risk of rippling Capsular contracture and rupture with larger implants.
It's definately something you should discuss in detail with your surgeon and ensure you're happy to proceed knowing all the risks involved. xx

Re: What are the pitfalls of having a larger implant
I have 445g and yes they do feel heavy. I don't go without a bra even at night 15 months on! I reckon I'll need an uplift at some point although my ps told me at my 1 year check that as long as I don't put on/lose loads of weight I should be ok.

Re: What are the pitfalls of having a larger implant
What projection have you got at the moment? Have you had a consultation yet with a surgeon to see what they would recommend? Maybe if you had just a slightly bigger implant but with a higher projection it would give you the change you are looking for.

Re: What are the pitfalls of having a larger implant
I currently have (i think) 420 High profile implants. I think for my frame size the diameter is too small, but I would like them a bit bigger too.
I'm going to end up having to have my PIPs out eventually anyway so would like to go bigger if possible
