When does sensation come back? Empty When does sensation come back?

Post by Miss Milly 5th July 2011, 9:38 am

Hi all,
I am 6 days post op now and was just wondering how long it took those of you post BA to be able to feel your boobs again. It's so weird for example touching the side of your boob, or your nipple, and just not feeling anything. My boobs feel like strange alien lumps on my chest.

By the way, just wanted to say thanks again for this site. I love the Search box because I can just put in whatever word I need, for example, swelling, and then see all the posts on the subject and get loads of good answers.

Thank you!!!

When does sensation come back? Empty Re: When does sensation come back?

Numbness can last in areas on your breast for up to a year hun.

Never compare your own recovery to others babe, your body will heal when it's ready and it gets a little frustrating if you compare and possibly find someones healing quicker than you when in reality, your body may just be slower to heal and that's OK.

Sensation can return straight away! for others, it may take a week, a month or a year to settle, but it's all normal and all just fine. A very, very small few, 'may' experience some permanant numbness. xx

When does sensation come back? Empty Re: When does sensation come back?

The first place I got feeling back was my nipples, this happened during the first week. By about 2-3 weeks I had all feeling back except for some patches underneath which are still numb now. I'm not worried though - as Cookie said, it can take up to a year to come back, and I'm only 2 months post op. Xx

Mine came back in bits, from top to middle, then I had one numb nip and one with full feeling. I had to wait a full year for the numb nip to go back to normal and I have a couple of numb patches under my boobs near the scar which are permanent.

I have an area on the side of my right boobs which is still numb at 2years PO. It is sadly something which can happen after a BA. On the plus though most of my feeling came back quite quickly. x

Mine are numb in spots and patches too. I was really scared my nipples would be numb and ruin my sex life. I'm 5 days post and they are starting to feel sore- this gives me hope that it means there will be feeling after all!! Yea!
