Re: Worried About GA
You have a qualified consultant anaesthetist putting you to sleep with an assistant which will be another anaesthetic doctor. They're trained to deal with the sickest of sick patients, and young women undergoing minor surgery like this is just a walk int he park for them. Trust me... I'm a doctor!!! :D
Nurses just help take obs and stuff, they don't have any responsibilty to do with the anaesthetic. Honestly, you have nothign to worry about.

Re: Worried About GA
You're gonna be just fine babe
I balled my eyes out all the way to theatre with a theatre nurse who was so kind and understanding.
Your surgeons care team (anaethetist and nurses) will all be there to take great care of you, they see scared woman all the time and are very understanding, you really will be OK. The nurse will look after you and talk the way through you being put asleep by the anaethetist, believe me hunni it's as simple as blinking! - Eyes closed, no boobs, eyes open - BOOOOOOOOOOOBS!
So many of us have shared your fears sweetness, try reading the BA stories section of the forum, reading women who just like you had fears pre-op, especially a fear of the GA, which seems the second most fear after sizing, but ALL come back happy. This is really gonna be great shelsuit, enjoy these last few days of the build up, it really is the best part of your BA journey after getting your boos of couse! but you'll look back and remember all those lovely butterflies and what an exciting time this is. xx

I have been so stressed about the GA too!! Ive never been put under, and Im just terrified!! I know from experience with local anesthesia I was puking ALOT ... and my BP dropped.. now that was with an epidural and all the other pain meds they give you when your giving birth.. Has anybody been really sick after GA?? My PS prescribed me some fenergen (sp?) for after the surgery to help combat the nausea...hope it does the trick.

Re: Worried About GA
Hi! You'll be fine, I worried about this part the most too.
You lay on a table - needle goes in, you feel a bit dizzy - you blink and you're back in your bed with boobs. Some people say they remember dreams from when they were under, but I didn't remember anything so it was literally over within the blink of an eye!
I also had the anaesthetists and 2 nurses in with me, they will chat to you and keep you distracted.
Best of Luck!

I was, but I was very well looked after by the hospital and had to stay for an extra night, this was at no extra cost to myself though, the hospital took care of everything, especially me. xx

Re: Worried About GA
Alcohol, I think some advice abstinence for 2 weeks! I was advised no alcohol for 1 week post-op as it has the possibility of thinning the blood.
Also no anti-iflammatories, such as ibuprofen as they too thin the blood babe. I was also told no vitimin suppliments also xx

Re: Worried About GA
I agree, definitely no alcohol or ibuprofen; they're blood thinners. Nothing w any kind of aspirin. Use nothing but Tylenol pre-BA they told me. No smoking. I have a huge 4 page list of no-nos! DO start taking stool softener at least a few days before you gave your surgery- the boosting afterward is the mist painful part for me... Makes the boobie achiness not so noticeable! Stay super super hydrated the week or two prior to you op. I'd also advise you to get things from top cabinets and put them on the counter- like coffee and filters I keep up above the stove... It's a big help!

Re: Worried About GA
Hi sweetie,
I have 5 surgeries under my belt (only 2 were elective).Four of them I was totally out and one I had conscience sedation.I got through all of them just fine and I know you will be in great hands! It's very safe and they will monitor you throughout the whole proceedure. They may give you a pill to calm you that you can take before leaving your home the day of the surgery.Ask them for one ahead of time if you feel you may need one.
Just think positive thoughts and how lovely your new figure will be!
