Corset bandage thing
Ok - here goes with my first of many questions... My surgeon is planning to operate on a Wednesday. I stay overnight and then go home on the Thurs. He says I'll be strapped up in a sort of corset-type thing with 2 bottles either side for drainage... Sounds lovely. Then he doesn't see me again til the Mon when he takes off the corset bandage thing + bottles and I put on the sports bra. Is this normal timing-wise? I am not liking the thought of trying to sleep and get on with life with bottles hanging around me for 4 days. Just to explain that I am based in Spain so maybe they do things differently over here or maybe something got lost in translation...
Thanks for your thoughts.

Re: Corset bandage thing
Some girls here have drains, this will take any fluid build up out of your body. I did not have them but others have. It is hard to sleep afterwards for everyone. It will get easier.
Re: Corset bandage thing
Is it normal for your countries to have there patients say the night in hospital?
Here is surgery and on you way home 3-4 hours later! My Dr said it would take about 1 -1 1/2 hours and id be out as soon as was able 3-4 hours.
Just wondering

You have a choice sometimes in the UK. Not sure about the rest of europe. I did not stay over night. I was in KFC a couple of hours after surgery having a treat.

Re: Corset bandage thing
I have defo got to stay in overnight. Seems no other option with this particular PS. What I'm unhappy about is how long I've got to have the drains attached. I'm going to ask him if I can have them taken out before I go home the next day...
Although I am in Spain for the op, I am English and it would be so much nicer to be doing this in the good old UK.

Re: Corset bandage thing
I didn't have drains, but have heard some surgeons like them as they reduce swelling, though whether this is the case is debatable.
Speak to your surgeon and see why he wants your drains in for so long, it shouldn't be necessary to have them in for that long, but if that's how he does things then you'll have to try and get used to if for a few days.

Re: Corset bandage thing
I had drains but had them removed before I left. I also had the corset top thing for about a week, this is the thing I found the hardest as I didn't want to leave the house yet I fell well enough to do so :-(
