question! typing after surgery
I see a lot of you are talking on the forum day of or day after BA so this may be a silly question.. but is it hard to get on the computer/type right after surgery?
I'm sure I will be wanting to check out this website as soon as possible after my BA, and also, I will be taking 4 classes online & I cant let myself get too far behind!

Re: question! typing after surgery
It won't be a problem typing, but as Jen says the stuff you type may not make sense because of the medication and the ga being in your system. xx

Re: question! typing after surgery
I took a laptop with me :-) I was on here right up until my BA and then apparently I was emailing people the next morning although I don't remember doing that .
I work from home and I was back to full time work 4 days after my BA.

Re: question! typing after surgery
I was fine to be on my laptop within a couple hours of my ba and spent the first week of my recovery glued to the laptop and this forum!

Re: question! typing after surgery
I was online the day after... def could not have managed the same day! GA seemed to effect me quite a bit, was very incoherent and groggy, kept falling asleep and can't remember very much about my first day other than I kept falling asleep.

Re: question! typing after surgery
It's not too bad, especially if you can keep your upper arms relatively still. The GA does affect you in weird ways, hence some of the odd posts we get from girls a few hors after surgery!
Re: question! typing after surgery
As long as you have a table or so and you don't have to put the laptop on the bed and rest on your elbow (which is BAD after BA) it's fine.
Just be careful what you write or who you call. Especially if you have relatives abroad etc. DON'T. Hide the phone. I had a friend who after a GA felt so elated and called several friends and relatives in America and raked up a £650 bill. And she DOESN'T REMEMBER ANYTHING.
But writing on the forum shouldn't have much potential for danger, the worst I could do is laugh at how incoherent you sound :)

Re: question! typing after surgery
I was on 10mins after waking up. And I also texted and phoned people. Although I still can't make sense of any of the texts. So I'd advise just text email people who know what's happening as they may think uve hit the vodka during the day!

Re: question! typing after surgery
does the GA effect people that much? i had a d and c 4 years ago and ov had to have GA and they never told me i couldnt drive home and i did ... ov looking back and knowing how dangerous it was it scared the life out of me after someone asked how i got home from hospital as my mum couldnt drive ( she was with me) and i said i drove they went nuts... but i had had a miscarriage was having an op i was 20 and tbh i had to that point never had an op nor GA so didnt no u couldnt drive! i felt fine after wasnt drowsy was walking around.. is this just a case of it effects people differently? x
Re: question! typing after surgery
It's not that you feel badly coordinated and drunk, or lacking mental faculties, apart from being slightly drowsy; but it sort of gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling that can affect your judgement of danger, I think. Add to that the general excitement of just having done something you've wanted for years, and you can imagine! That's why they say not to sign any legal documents. I remember texting my boss as if he was my best friend after GA.
