hay hun, i waited my 6weeks to wear a bra, but i did go out without a bra on, in a boob tube as i felt more comfortable doing that than pushing then up in a bra. Im sure some more ladies will be along to give there opinion! hope you enjoy your night out xx

i have always been very good at wearing the perfect size bra...everytime i hav been fitting, just to check, the ladies have always said i have it bang on and my bras fit perfectly....so...i didnt get measured..i tried a few bras on and realised i was fittting the 34ff perfectly in most stores.
Anyway, debs had a sale on so i got one for dirt cheap (im talking £8 for a set!!)
im hoping i will grow out of it though, cos of course... i would love to fluff!!

haha you know me so well Jen! TUT! TUT! TUT!
In my opinion babe, think of it this way, you've just spent around 4K on your new boobs, part of that money was for your surgeons expert advice, part of the reason YOU chose your surgeon... So if you're advised to wear a sportsbra for 6 weeks, then you should wear it for 6 weeks.
Now... ask yourself this, are you prepared to risk your recovery for the sake of one night out?
I'm afraid I'd rather spend the years 'after' my recovery making the most of my new boobs knowing I did everything I could to get the best from my recovery and ensuring I would get the best result possible from my new boobs.
It's just not a risk I'd be willing to take after spending all that money and waiting so long for the new boobs you paid for. xx

Re: wearing bra 4 weeks po for 1 nite?
Have to agree with cookie I'm afraid, plus no bra is better than a wired bra. A wired bra worn early can make your recovery longer, as it can cause the implant to move and not adhere to it's new pocket as quickly as it would have, which would mean staying in a sports bra longer.
Re: wearing bra 4 weeks po for 1 nite?
Have to agree with Cookie (how did you know Cookie would be tutting Jen lol) and misf1, we spend a lot of money on our new additions, why take the risk?
I got some sports bras from M&S that aren't to bad as far as height and strap width are concerned so can wear wide strap tops over them.
I can't wait for my 6 week point (1 week 2 days) to wear a different bra. I have been advised no underwire for 6 months post op.
Have a really great night out and celebrate your new curvy figure, there are plenty of lovely clothes out there that will flatter even with our horrid sports bras xx

Sorry to hijack your jodie, but I have the same question!
It's my birthday 4 weeks after, I will check with my clinic but do you think a nonwired bra might be a better alternative as to going bra less?
It's my 21st and I don't really want to be covered up either, as I get hot very easily as well. Obviously, if they strongly advise against it, I'll have to find a nice top to wear instead of the summery dress I am planning!

Call your own clinic/surgeon babe, if they think it's fine based on YOUR healing, then it will be OK. If not, then I'd find something you can wear to cover the sportsbra sweetness. xx
Re: wearing bra 4 weeks po for 1 nite?
A non wired or boob tube type bra which will both give you some kind of support would be better. I did grin and bare it and wore my sports bra even on a nigh out, but with a shrug cardi things to cover up the straps and nothing very low cut.

I just had a thought Jen... I'm not at all certain, but wearing push-up bra that early may have been the cause of your implant not being able to settle and why you were stll feeling the implant moving in the pocket until the last few days when if finally stabilised? It kinda makes sence really as your new boobs need constant stabilty to enable the implant to adhere to the pocket, with forcing the implant upwards it 'might' have some impact on that. xx
Re: wearing bra 4 weeks po for 1 nite?
You girls are brave... I haven't even had my BA yet and I think I would be way to scared to wear an underwired bra too early. :teehee: xxxx

Re: wearing bra 4 weeks po for 1 nite?
thanks for your replies, u have just petrified me into not wearing a wired bra, bit to risky i defo dont want to jepodise my recovery :(
i do have a information booklet that i was given after my opt that states i have to wear a sports bra for 4 weeks and not a wired one for after 6 weeks, brain wave does this mean i can wear a non wired for the remainin time? even tho i will go back to wearing sports bra after my nite out, feel nice and snug in them and very supportive.
xx

Re: wearing bra 4 weeks po for 1 nite?
Jodie,
My ps told me I had to wear a sports bra for 6 weeks then I could wear a NON underwired bra till the 6 month point and then I can wear wires.
Like Cookie says we should follow the advice of our own ps.
I took advice from my nurse on the non underwired bra situation and she told me I can wear a bra that had wires in as long as I take the wires out. (iyswim)
I would phone your clinic and see if you can wear a non wired bra instead of a sports bra, but please do follow the advice of your surgeon or clinic. All our ops are individual to us and our surgeons give us their advice for our own good.
Have a really good night out though, I am sure once you are out you will enjoy just having curves. I am off out for my Wedding anniversary tonight and really looking forward to it even if I am in my sports bra.
