Leave silicone in armpit or not?
Hi
I have had three consultations with same surgeon and am booked in to have my ruptured PIP implants replaced. On my right armpit I have a lump there which isnt visible but I can feel it which is where the silcone has leaked. My surgeon has advised leaving it in the lymp node and not to remove it as he feels it will cause problems. It hurts every now and then but he said the pain will eventually go.
Has anyone else had silicone that leaked into their armpit and either had it removed? or was advised to leave it?
Thanks

Re: Leave silicone in armpit or not?
I had my lymph nodes removed, but, I have an auto immune disorder so anything like that would make me feel very unwell, because of this it was decided it would be best to remove them, I had 5 lymph nodes taken out.
I don't actually know of many women who do have the lymph nodes removed, there is but a few that I've seen come and go here, but I suppose each women will be assessed individually and if your surgeon is happy to leave them then as long as you're confident with the surgeon chosen, I'd just go with that hun. xx

There have been a few ladies where they've had lymph nodes removed, however one member was told by her surgeon that it can cause nerve damage in your arm, hence their hesitation to remove them.
It's best to listen to your surgeon, however it might be helpful to book an app with your GP to get their opinon too. Hope you feel better soon.
