2 days to go & very scared :-(
Thursday morning is my turn so less than 48hours to go now & I'm so so scared and panic setting in about the GA :-( I contemplated backing out a few days ago as I am that worried about it & just looking for some reassurance really & to hear I'm being silly :-(
The reason I'm so nervous is that I've had 1 GA before in my life (as a child) they gave me the GA & I stayed awake, they gave me more & I still stayed awake, they decided they couldn't give me anymore as it would be dangerous and so they did my OP just with locals around that area. Can't exactly do that with a boob job though!! I'm terrified that I won't fall asleep and that they'll then end up giving me too much :-( I've told them at my consult about this incident and they didn't seem too woried but still bothering me

hi hunni, im sure you will be fine, remind the anathestist again on the day of your surgery and tell them you are concerned because of what has happened in past experiences. I am really worried about the GA (when my turn comes round) also but all of the girls have been really informative and supportive when I posted a thread on it last week. Im sure they will be along soon to do the same to you hun. Anyhow good luck for Thursday, will be thinking of you

I think anybody who isn't at least a little anxious so near to an operation want's their head feeling!! It's normal to feel what you're going through, especially with your history. I'm sure you'll be fine & typing out your story before you know it.

I think it's totally natural to be worried about the GA, especially as you have had a bad experience in the past. Although I'm sure you will be fine, it is an EXTREMELY rare occurrence for you to actually wake up during surgery. The anesthetist is monitoring you all the time throughout the procedure and they will not even begin until you are definitely out for the count! Good luck with your BA hun, before you know it you'll be out of there and recovering nicely xxx

Re: 2 days to go & very scared :-(
Aw!!! I can understand where you are coming from, my son as a small child said he remembers being aware of parts of an op. He would be feeling the same as you, I think it is more that he feels noone believes him as he was a child, but there is no way he could have known any of what he recalls if he was',ent aware.
However, I think it is just the norm also to feel nervous, scared before an operation, just read all the posts to confirm also the postop, and you will see it is actually quite an enjoyable experience for some. I would speak all your concerns over with the aneathisist on the day you will feel soo much better and they really do care for you and want you to feel at ease. I really wish you well and hope you can enable yourself to overcome your fears... think of the keep focused and summer here I come.xxx

Best of luck Lozzied.
Please dont worry about the GA you will be able to speak to the Anaethetist before the op and think about it this way a Ga and a poorly child is far more complicated than a 45 min op on a healthy adult so they will put you to sleep and wake you up again with no problems I promise.

Aww hunni.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with a GA when you were young. I think they must have made a mistake with the quantities they were giving to you ... these days the anaesthetic is more advanced, more effective and safer, so I'm sure you'll be fine this time.
Good Luck!!

I understand why you are worried because of what happened, but I am sure things have moved on in the GA department since you were a child, and if you make sure the anesthetist knows of your experience they will take extra precautions. Not long to go now hun, best of luck!!! xxx

Aw hope the girls have helped to settle your worries, they can't give you half of what they give you as an adult when you're a child so please try not to worry so much about that experience, things are more advanced these days too, mention it to the anaesthetist on the day so he can put your mind at rest and i have never heard of anyone yet not be knocked out cold, all the best hunni xx

Lovely to hear from you - i did reply to you on email as well - At least you are coming to come out just how you want cos i don't think you can go wrong with the 230 - my OH thinks I should have the 310 as there is so little difference (like he knows but he is usually right with nearly everything else) but i am going to be b......y huge going back to work after a week and i just DONT want that at all - will die of embrassment - and i feel 265 will be perfect but after 6 months will probably wish i did 310 so I am just going to have to wait till i see singh 5 mins before my op - wear the bra that i bought that is a C with 2 chicken fillets in each side and say this how big I DON'T want to be !! so which is it matey ..... if one was sure of the size that you were coming out with .....the anticipation and stress would not be nearly soooooo bad. Wish you lots of luck and will be on computer to see how you do ... big hug and try to sleep okay - love me X

Hiya Hunny
I hope the other ladies have helped settle your nerves, i know exactly how you feel 2 weeks ago i wanted to cancel and couldnt believe what i was doing im such a worrier and get really bad panic attacks etc.. but on the actual day of surgery i was calm the only time i panicked was the needle and i didnt even feel it!!
Everyone worries about the GA hun its awful but please remember that it is very advanced now and they will have took into account what has happened to you in the past, the anethetsist will also be there in the operation to monitor you closely you will be absaloutly fine and like me and probably a lot of other ladies will come out thinking what the hell was i so worried for!! lol
Good Luck hun will be thinking of you x x x

Re: 2 days to go & very scared :-(
.x. thanks everyone, still a bit nervous as the anethetsist I had for my previous and only other OP said I was a unique case and he had never been unable to knock someone out before & they couldn't find a reason for it. I was just lucky that that OP was on my feet so I was just given locals and lay there talking to one of the nurses the whole way through in a very delerious but also very awake state. I kept trying to sit up to see what they were doing!! Sounds very bizzare I know but I can assure you its true, the hospital staff were completely puzzled by me!!
Someone mentioned that now I'm an adult the dose will be a lot higher & I never thought of that even though it's really obvious so thats made me feel much better. :)
24 hours until my admission time! Hopefully will be posting my story on here very very soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry you're feeling scared hun but its definately understandable considering what happened, i'm sure everything will go well and the girls have given very supportive messages so hopefully this will help x
Re: 2 days to go & very scared :-(
What hospital are you having it done at?
What you are feeling is so understandable. I can't even begin to imagine the fear you are feeling.
When I was taken to have the GA i was lying there thinking, i am so awake there is no way they will be able to knock me out, and i was worried that it would be like - y'no when you are trying to sleep at night and for some reason you just can't sleep, and the harder you try the worse it gets. Well there was no chance of that, as soon as i felt the metalic taste in my mouth i was out in less than a second.
As all the other girls have said make sure you talk to the Anethetsist
and explain what happened before, ask as many questions as you want and expain your fears.
But above it all when you are feeling really scared try and take some pics of nice bra's, tops or even boobs with you, just to remind you what you are doing this for.
Good luck hun, can't wait to hear from you after its all done.

Support is what we all need ... and it's free ....are we not just soo lucky?
You will look back and wonder why you were nervous ...as it is over and you remember nothing about it. A great sleep and boobies within the hour Now that's what I call a day to look forward to :flash:xxxxx
