GA and weight gain?
Forgive me ladies for being blonde. Sorry all the blondies out there. I'm actually cupcake pink! So forgive me for being pink, but I've been reading some ladies reporting that the anasthetic has put 10 pounds on them! Is this 10 pounds from their purses or do the surgeons pump you up with a 3 course meal when you're out of it? 10 pounds in a day! Can anyone enlighten me xx

Re: GA and weight gain?
Im afraid its true! lol mot always 10lns....but I out on 2lns from my implants but then a extra 6lbs on top of that giving me the grand total of 8lbs!.............I have no idea why this is but I ballooned after my surgury.....have never done it with any of my other op which is odd.
I was so swollen and bloated around my belly I actually looked ike i was pregnant :teehee: ......I went from a 28-30 band to a 34 which went dwon around the 5 week mark.
Maybe its water retention, maybe its a reaction to the G.A but we all seem to bloat straight after and struggle to get back into the jeans we went to the hospital in! lol ..........on the up side the bloating and weight will go a few weeks after your op :cheerlead:

Re: GA and weight gain?
Oh no!!! I am not liking this at all! I don't wanna be bunged up and def don't wanna put on loads of weight and be bloated!!
Is there anything I can do to stop it, or to help it? I see one of the girls mention that she felt so bad she had colonic irrigation and feels much better now. I may look into it if I'm feeling that bad. Would rather something less pricey but if its the only way to help then I will probably go for it. xx

Re: GA and weight gain?
Hi hun, this will sound gross, so forgive me in advance. Your colon can store up to 9lbs of waste, once you have had a GA you can become a bit blocked up, so the waste doesn't come out as easily in your no 2's lol. This leads to the pregnant belly look, your implants can also weigh a pound or two. As soon as everything is running as it should, you regain your normal weight.
Re: GA and weight gain?
ps it's not like you will want to go out much as you will be tired and achy. I dont think there is any point in going to extremes and putting your body under increased stress by having a colonic after a major operation. It's only a few days or weeks, if your body needs a kick start in the right direction then a gentle herbal laxative should help. A GA practically shuts down all your muscles and it needs time to readjust, no point in forceing it.
Re: GA and weight gain?
Yes the weight gain is true. I went from a 30 band too 36!! My tummy was very big!!
I think it is a combination of the GA and pain killers. I am still not back to normal but it is going down.
I am drinking prune juice, taking stool softeners and laxitives!! Seems like everyone gets it. They should warn us about it!

Re: GA and weight gain?
Thanks Sampowell, will give them a try.
Good advice Misf1, Probably best just to let your body get back to normal itself. I suppose if the weight gain and bloating doesn't last too long then it won't be the end of the world!! Just not nice, but boobs are so worth it! Will just wait and see how I feel after, everyones different. xx

Re: GA and weight gain?
Gosh having a BA does ruin your bodily functions for a while it seems. It's quite weird but I suppose it us an op and so had it's consequences. But all these effects will be worth it. Just be lying in bed with nice big boobies and a big bloated belly to match hehe. Good job I've lost a bit if weight before my op, sounds like I'll be piling it all back on ad I put my feet up and heal lol. Great!! God the things girls will do to themselves to get good boobs. Oh well hehe xxxx
