Hi Ladies,

Sorry for these questions, I think I know the answers, but just wanted to know how all you ladies coped!

So for the day of surgery...

** Did you wear deorderant?

** Did you manage to brush your teeth?

Already dreading the au natural aspect of travelling to the surgery let alone, being all clammy from nerves complete with morning breath and no cuppa!

Thanks

I was told not to have anything on my skin, so no deodorant. I showered before I left for hospital but didn't use anything on my skin.

I did manage to brush my teeth, just be careful not to swallow.

There's no such thing as a silly question hun, we all wonder about these things.

I had to shower from head to toe with a surgical soap and was told no creams, conditioners or deoderant. I brushed my teeth but had to make sure not to swallow any water. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

This is good and I was wondering these things too. So thanks girls.
Another thing I was wondering is after b/a I know you cant get your scars wet and so cannot shower for a week, but is it ok 2 wash under armpits and put deodorant on? If so are you better off with roll on or spary? I wear both. Sorry if this is silly of me.lol. xx

I just put my deoderant on after I'd put my sports bra on and I used spray. I had shallow baths every day and I washed under my arms with a flannel so I dind't soak my incisions. If nothing else it makes you appreciate a shower or a good deep soak in the bath when you can have one xx

I seriously cant bear not having a shower after the op. When they told me i couldnt have one for at least 6 days I didnt know what to do! lol Anyhow im gonna wrap my boobs in clingfilm all the way round my body a couple of times ( IM SERIOUS). And im also the kinda person who needs to wash their hair everyday so im going to ask my daughters to do that while i lean over the sink. PROBABLY BE A NEAR DROWNING EXPERIENCE BUT AT LEAST I WILL HAVE FRESH HAIR!!

** Did you wear deorderant? Yes! I was told not to, but there is no way I cannot not wear deodorant even for an hour- I get far too stinky.

** Did you manage to brush your teeth? Yes! I wasn't told not to. I am a dentist and the amount you might swallow is neglible IMO.

I managed to wash my hair by standing up in shower in bath, just sticking my head under the water while my husband held a towel round my boobs - I had my BA just 4 days before Xmas, so I had to find a way to look presentable. Also about drinking, I was allowed breakfast and cup of tea at 7 am and then allowed to drink sips of water until 11 am - with a check in time of 12.30 and op at 3 pm. But you need to check with your clinic.

Wow this topic is so helpful. They're not sully questions. I'm gonna try stick to exactly what I can and can not do. I hope I succeed. The no shower will be extremely hard for me. Me thinks my mother will cone in handy to wash my hair. I suppose ill just have to do without my deodorant for a day :((( xxxx

I used hibiscrub, showered using it the night before and on the day of my surgery - No deodrant, perfumes, moisturisers or lotions.

I did brush my teeth.

Afterwards, I stuck to a roll on deodrant for a while, I found I had limited movement lifting my arms, so this was the easiest option for me (I'd also had my armpits waxed pre-BA so I didn't have to worry about shaving for a while)

I had no problem keeping myself clean, I just stuck to shallow baths, using a flannel to wash my upper body, avoiding my boobs.

I washed my hair with help from my daughter over the bath whilst I held onto my boobs.

Getting the all clear for a shower is the most wonderful feeling but I was never dirty during my recovery, you can have shallow baths to stay clean. xx

I didn't have to be there till 11:00-11:30 so I was up early and had a shower. I dried and straightened my hair but it gets pulled into a cap for surgery. This was one of best things I did.

In terms od deo - I use tricolor (http://www.boots.com/en/Driclor-Solution-Roll-On-Applicator_22023/) the day before op and that stops you worrying about sweating.

I didn't wear creams or lotions but I did wear purfume.

Showering - I have a wlak in shower so just got in with my bra on and only washed from tummy button down! Lol. I then flanneled my tummy and arms and my Mum did my back. I did try having a bath but i could barely lift my arms and couldn't apply any weight to push my self out. Hence I nearly got stuck!

Hi Jay, I was just wondering if you can use the hibiscrub on your face. I know you wouldn't need to for a BA but I'm getting a nose job too (sorry for mentioning this on this beloved BA forum) xxxx
