Anyone jumped Ship?
Hi ladies,
Just something that has crossed my mind.... Has anyone after consultation decided to go with the surgeon direct instead of through one of the big companies? I have had a consultation through my breast tbh not overly impressed with their admin plus it doesn't look like they will have the dates I am hoping for. I was attracted by the lifetime aftercare which in reality isn't all I thought it was :(
Thank you
Kerry xx

I did consider it, but I think going with the surgeon privately can make it more expensive. Even though the lifetime aftercare with Mybreast isn't comprehensive, it is a lot better than what many other companies offer, and I think privately surgeons probably can't afford to compete on that level.
It's definitely worth doing your research and looking into though hun, especially if it means you can get a good deal on your op! It would have made it more expensive for me, so I didn't do it.

Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
Hi Kerry
I have been to two company's, but in the end I have decided to go straight to the PS directly. And It is a private hospital.
However one company was cheaper and one was a lot more expensive, So privately it was right in the middle of both of the prices quoted.
I feel that its worth paying though as I get the surgeon I want and the implants I wanted.
I can go and see my ps any time before and after surgery at no extra cost as long as the appointments are about the BA and nothing else.
Which I do feel is only right. At the end of the day I can't expect to go about a nose job say for free.
I dont know if this helps but thought it was worth mentioning

Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
He's brilliant hun, you've made a really good choice. It was literally all about price for me, and mybreast offered me a daycase at nuffield for £4,250. Everything has been pretty direct through JM and his office otherwise. The last time I heard from Mybreast directly was just to confirm my 2nd consultation, but whenever I've phoned they've always been friendly and happy to talk to me.
I just hope that their aftercare policy will be there for me should I need it.
James is great either way, and I'm sure you'll be happy with your result!!

Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
Thanks LL, its soo tricky I dont know whether I am just being fussy but for both consultations my breast forgot to send my documents, then they sent the wrong info! Then when I called to sort dates the member of staff (not my usual coordinator) was really unhelpful and couldnt do it and just said looking at dates was not possible for her without payment first?!?! So she is asking my coordinator to contact me tommorow! I am being too fussy I dont know..... Just dont feel good about my first impressions.

Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
I know what you mean hun. It's no good if they can't seem to get their admin together. I must admit that I've had a couple of letters that have been sent twice, or not at all, or only half of what I was supposed to receive etc, but overall I can't really complain about them as they've always been friendly and ready to help me and corrected the couple of very small errors that they did make. As I said, I've had minimal interaction with them anyway since I've booked, as it's all gone through James' clinic. I just hope that they will be there for me should any complications arise, and I've heard that they are one of the better companies for that sort of thing.
You have to feel comfortable with your decision though. If you're fully aware of what you do and don't get with the aftercare package that JM can offer you, and you don't think there's any other benefit to going with mybreast, then why not go with JM direct? Either way he'll do a brilliant job for you and I'm sure you'll love the result.
Good luck making your decision!

Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
Kerry have you tried emailing JM himself and seeing which route he thinks offers the best package?
Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
I booked my consultation direct with the surgeon's office because it was much easier to get an appointment that suited my timetable than it was through MyBreast. I did book an a consultation through MyBreast as well, however I may have to reschedule. But that does make me curious, is there a big difference in the aftercare policy the surgeon will offer as opposed to a company? And is the difference in price quite a lot? I would be willing to compromise for better service (especially reading about how difficult it was to actually follow up on aftercare with MyBreast) but I would still like a significant guarantee.

Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
Thank you everyone, butterfly- I think I will email James direct and see what warranty etc he offers. I read an interesting post in his section Of the forum with someone asking a similar thing. Xxx

I think it will help in the long run to know where/who offers you the best deal for whatever it is that you want hun. I chose mine because he did the implants I wanted. Everyone is different and are looking for different things.
I hope you find the things you want hun
Good luck and keep us posted x

Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
I will ask my surgeon about after care as well, and what his policy is. And post back here after the consultation. Soooo many questions to ask, thanks to this forum! It is appropriate to ask about after care and re-ops in the consultation right?

Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
Hey Everyone, bit of an update...
I kind of gave mybreast an ultimatum (one they didnt know about lol!) I promised myself if the next day my patient adviser didnt contact me I would contact James and go direct..... So the next day arrived (wed) and my patient adviser emailed me as promised and even kept regular contact with me throughout the day even though she wasnt in the office, answering all my questions !! Mybreast even managed to pull a date out the bag I didnt know was available....... long story short= I am now booked for 4 weeks today ......ARGHHHHHHHHHH
Thanks for all your help

Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
Congratulations on the date! Four weeks is so close! I am excited for you! I have my first consultation this week, I hope it goes well. I was hoping for an april date too, and they told me they still had theatre dates available. But there is a lot to consider before then. So I shouldn't get ahead of myself. I hope I can join you in April Kerry!!

Re: Anyone jumped Ship?
Me too! But I won't know about dates until I speak with the surgeon's personal assistant again.
I asked him about aftercare, and he said any healing concerns would of course be covered. I then said what about if I was unhappy with the result, even aesthetically (well apart from size because that is a bit different) and he said that he would be willing to discuss it if it came up and do revision surgery if necessary, it wouldn't be an additional fee, but I would have to cover the hospital fees.
I think that sounds pretty reasonable to me! What do you guys think?
