Textured implants
Hi guys,
Sorry if this sounds a bit dim - but what are they? And what is the difference between them and normal smooth implants?

Re: Textured implants
I think that they are textured to stop them moving/rotating in the breast, i know that i had teardrop shape (anatomical) implants and theyare textured to help keep them in place as obviously if they move the breast will appear mis-shaped.
I know some round implants are smooth and this doesnt matter as if they rotate they wont effect the shape of the breast. I think its something along them lines,
Sorry for a rubbish answer, im sure it wont be long till you'll get better advice from others on here for the exact reason why??? lol.

Re: Textured implants
If you look at the post "what your implant looked like" Nads had put a picture of a smooth and textured implant, the textured is the one at the front, have a read of that thread too, it may help, xxx

Re: Textured implants
Yes as far as I know the texture is to reduce the chances of rotation and of CC.
That's all I know though!

Re: Textured implants
I think it's because the textured surface helps the body create the scar tissue around them in a more natural way as the tissue "grips" on the irregular textured surface better than on a smooth surface. And that means that your body is less likely to go "crazy" and create too much scar tissue that is what causes CC. Or something like that!

Re: Textured implants
I agree MM for smooth implants the scar tissue can grip around it much easier whereas the uneven surface of textured ones stops the scar tissue forming a tight grip
Re: Textured implants
Thanks for all the replys. Do lots of people have them? Or are they only for ladies who have had CC before and are used in reconstructive surgery? xx

Re: Textured implants
Smooth implants arent really avail in the UK anymore, i only hear about them being used in the US x
Re: Textured implants
I think most implants the girls are offered will be textured. Surgeons over here prefer them to smooth silicone, wheras silicone is widely used in the US
