Just found out I have to have my PIPs removed..
[code]Had numbness in my arms and fingers at the start of this year and was told it was nerve trapped in my neck, then later Found lumps in my armpit. Had an ultra sound on NHS and found silicon in my lymph nodes last month. Had implants in 2008 and have been really happy with them. I contacted my cosmetic surgery clinic who saw me straight away as soon as i told them i had PIPS...I had no idea about what they were until I researched them on the net..hadnt seen any of the press coverage, and never expected anything was wrong. My surgeon has moved away and the company I had them done with have agreed to re-do them under my insurance, but as its a different surgeon, he wants to start from scratch...so I have to have my implants out, then heal...then go NHS to have my silicon filled lymph nodes taken out, then heal....then wait at least 3 months until my new surgeon will do a re-augmentation. There is a doubt that the NHS will do my lymph nodes as it was a private op that caused the problem, I am just waiting to hear. If not, its likely it will cost me 2-3 thousand to have it done privately. I have approached my surgeon and asked they pay and they say its not their fault, they bought PIPs in good faith. I dont know if i am coming or going at the moment. I have constant migraines and the odd stabbing/stinging pain in my breasts and numbness in my right arm. My right breast has dropped by about a cm, so my nipples arent level and have rippling at the top and sides of both.I am worried sick and now have to face 3 ops to put things right..have 2 kids who I will fail to look after as a result. Gutted and at an all time low. Advise pleeeeaaase!!!!

Can your surgeon not do the lymph nodes while you are having the implants removed? What a horrible situation. I would advise you to seek legal advice.
Re: Just found out I have to have my PIPs removed..
Why are they saying that you have to have the lymph nodes done on the NHS - they are there solely because of the ruptured implant which was due to their negligence in using a poorer quality product. I would agree with misf1, I would inform your clinic that you are seeking legal advice about this. I am sure that a firm of specialist lawyers are acting for many women in your situation sweetheart, just not sure who they are - maybe try a google search??
Good luck

Re: Just found out I have to have my PIPs removed..
Carol, that is my argument...but they are not interested, say the surgeon isnt able to do lymph removal nor will pay for me to go private and have the pips and lymphs out at same time. my original surgeon appears to have done a runner, the new surgeon wants to remove them to see what he did and says lymphs is up to me...even though he wont do re aug until im clear of silicon elsewhere. its a nightmare. dont know where to turn and each day presents a new problem. Paid for extra 2 years insurance on my implants and feel let down that they arent taking the situation in hand. has anyone else had pips removed and lymphs done in one op? my doc has also said i may be left with the numbness and tingling in my arms for life ..both of which ive had for couple of months already, due to nerve damage from infiltrated silicon and node removal.

misf1 - may i ask why you went over the muscle? i was advised under was best and went along with that as thought my surgeon knew best. My new surgeon says that as my pips have leaked, my pips have slipped from under to over the muscle. am now unsure what to do when i go for re augmentation ...If, rather than when at mo, though cant bear the thought of being flat chested again:(

Tamz so sorry to hear your sad news, things will get better (I Know you must be thinking it's alright for me to say) but seeking legal advise will help you to focus on what your next move will be, its being in limbo that is stressing you out

Who do i go to for legal advice? got a solicitor of the net,who says they are involved in many pip cases....i just dont know who to trust. I cant afford legal bills - been told to be wary of no win no fee too. its a mine field.

PIPS out tomorrow
Hi i am having my pips out tomorrow , i found lumps uder my left arm pit. was sent for a mammagram and was told i had a seepage from my implant, they didnt seem that worried, told me i could have the lump removed if i wantedto, at the time didnt realise about how bad the implants were, called my surgeons office they informed me i had pips, but still wasnt told how bad they were, until i looked it up on net, i had an appointment to see my surgeon who told me i needed them taking out, also he could remove the lumps if i wanted him too ! but if not the lumps would just slowing go down, and dissolve into the body with no harm being down, i'm booked to have old ones out and new ones in tomorrow, i have no insurance, so having to pay yet again, this is my 3rd ba first time had saline and they ruptured, so not a happy person, but looking forward to having new boobies tomorrow, dont think i could cope without any implants in , as i was a 34aa before i started, xxxx

I was a 32AA before my op am a 32C now - same, couldnt cope with flat chest if had to have them out for good. My surgeon wont do a straight replacement though and I have to be clear of the pip silicon for 3 months (implants AND lumps under my arms, which im having to go NHS for as they wont do it) before he will give me new implants. What are your new ones? Do you plan to have lymph nodes out?

Re: Just found out I have to have my PIPs removed..
I was advised by my surgeon that I had enough breast tissue for overs and that my skin was very thick so it would give me the most natural result.Tamz wrote:misf1 - may i ask why you went over the muscle? i was advised under was best and went along with that as thought my surgeon knew best. It sounds like you have a very bad rupture hun, and I know you dont want to have multiple operations at the moment but it may be worth considering as you dont want any infection with new implants. It may be worth seeing if the NHS can remove the implants with the silicone in the lymph nodes.
