Power plate? Empty Power plate?

Post by fluffy_bunn1e 5th April 2009, 7:53 pm

Can anyone tell me if they know if it is safe to continue using power plates after surgery?

Obviously I know I ll have to wait a few months, I did ask my surgeon on my 1st consult and he said it should be fine as long as I dont jiggle about too much??

I have a power plate at home and use it up to 3 times a week, does anyone else have or use them and know if its ok?

Power plate? Empty Re: Power plate?

Hi im not sure about this one, I was talking to my mate who is a Personal Trainer at my gym and he said if you have implants you shouldnt really use them. However he may well hav said this to me just cos i know him very well. He knows i struggle to find the motivation to aerobic activities, so he constantly points me in the direction of the treadmill. Although im not sure if it would be ideal for implants as is dont half shake you, dont know if that would be a problem or not hmmmmm. Don't know if you know anyone at a gym you could ask or a mate who goes to a gym that has them who could find out....

Erm not that Iv come across but i mainly do running, cycling, weights, push ups etc etc (not thru choice, training for RAF lol) before u think im some gym freek hehe. The only one there is a question mark about is the Power Plate, having said that my mate who has had a BA has used them a couple times. Im sure if your surgeon understands what they are I would go with his/her advice unless u can ask some gym peeps. I cant see how its any worse than running as that sure dont half bounce mine. Mayb you jus have to make sure they are ''really'' healed before you use them..ie a good few months...who knows!!! xx

Hi Natalia & fluffy_bunn1e! I know I'm a little bit late on this post but how long did you wait after your BA before you used your powerplate? Is it the usual 4 to 6 weeks like any other exercise? x

What do you think cookie? Do you jiggle much or are they ok with a good sports bra?

I wasn't thinking of doing anything upper body like tricep dips but just some squats and lunges etc. x

I wouldn't use them just yet babe, you're far too early in your recovery hun, even with a good sports bra, although it doesn't feel like it whilst using them, they do give quite a vigorous work out sweetness.

It would be best if you just started with walking for now hun to maintain your fitness, I know that's not what you want to hear, but you apid a lot of money for those new babies and you want the best recovery possible to ensure the best result. Take it easy hunni until you get the all clear from your surgeon to exercise. xx

What the trainer told me about the power plates was that 10 minutes on the plate is the equivelent to a 60 minute workout, the low impact vibrations are meant to increase your muscular strength, so although you're not jiggling, there's still a whole lot of pressure on those breast muscles. xx
