Can you have a spray tan days before BA?
Hi Ladies
I've read some really good advice here about how to pamper yourself before your BA and I wondered if it it ok to have a spray tan a coupld of days before the op? When I had my first BA years ago, I was white and pasty and had a spot appear right between my breasts I made a joke to the surgeon about not implanting that by mistake but thought if I could have a spray tan I'd feel so much better the days following when I probably can't wash my hair or put on my face!!!

Think I have read that you are not allowed spray tan or false nails or any products that are strongly fragranced, and you can't have a spray tan very soon after either because of scars healing.

Oh nooooo no tan, no nails, can't wash my body, my hair will look like I've been breakdancing on my head. Maybe I'll cancel my OH taking me and will plan to see him in 3 weeks lol!!! I'm going to be such a minger!

Re: Can you have a spray tan days before BA?
i was told no fake tan for at least 7 days befor op
My ps said it was so they could monitor you circulation better with the natural colour of your skin. My Nurse said it could affect the colour of your scars. if you had loads of tan on it could become trapped in your incisions and give you darker scars.
thats the same reason reason why you cant use it untill your incisons totally heal.
love my tan and found it a bit of a pain, but for week or so after op i coudnt have cared less as felt pretty crappy anyway!
im now almost 2 weeks post op and i just use it on my face and neck and keep it well away from chest, still got my colour on face which will do until i heal xx

Re: Can you have a spray tan days before BA?
My husband helped me wash my hair - I stood in the shower and poked my head under water and my hubby held a towel round my boobs to keep them dry, think that was probably Xmas eve, so 3 days post op. Lots of people go to hairdressers for wash and blow dry - maybe you could do that, if you can't wash it yourself. I also managed to have a shallow bath each day - just had to be careful not to get dressings wet, just needed help getting out though!!

It's strange as I had my first BA many years ago and there is so much I can't remember. I remember the pain and thinking "what the hell have I done" but I can't remember how I managed washing myself! I have a great OH and I know he will look after me. xx thanks ladies at least I know not to bother with the spray tan now :-)
