Corrective surgery for me in 3 months
Well girlies I can now confirm my next step with my awful BA journey and it is a positive one!!
My GP referred me to see a wonderful surgeon (private referral) and he has confirmed I do have disfigurement and i will need 2 operations to fix things, it is much more than sticking in an implant under local like my surgeon in belgium was going to do.
The tissue/skin has attached itself to my muscle and i need plastic surgery first to fix this "bellybutton" effect on my boob, this cannot be done for 3 months due to my breast needing time to heal and then 2 months after that he said i can then have the implant put back in if i have no complications.
After a very lengthy consultation and him confirming i have not been dealt with appropriately by my surgeon, he then told me he was willing to do this on the NHS!!
I am so relieved, at least i can now find some peace in knowing i am finally safe and i will be ok and was right to trust you girls to get some consultations.
to you all xx

Re: Corrective surgery for me in 3 months
Thanks girls, i must admit i am a bit shell shocked still, i've had some home truths given to me and it's made me realise how lucky i am that it was not much worse, i didn't only suffer Haematoma I then went on to develop the implant infection which was why my body began to expel the implant, another rare complication, then when the implant was removed it should have been under GA and the damaged breast tissue should have been removed & sorted out then not left to mess up like it has, i should also have been kept for 6-8 hrs as i could have had another bleed, instead i was allowed to walk out alone straight from getting off his couch, i didn't realise just how bad i have been treated and i have been reserved & quiet about it all so far, even sticking up for the surgeon for fear of being abandoned but i told the surgeon it all and he used the term "Butcher" and said in his whole career he's only ever told one person they should sue, I am the second.
you girls are my world xx Thanks for looking after me xx

Oh SS i am so pleased this is getting sorted for you. You totally did the right thing thing to not go back to your original surgeon. The extent of the complications would never have been revealed and you obviously wouldnt have got the appropriate care from him with terrible potential consequences.
Thank goodness for the good old NHS hey? You truly are in safe hands now and must feel so much relief. God, you've been strong mate. Hats off to you.

SS, I am so releived you have a good surgeon looking after you now.
It just seemed so wrong you having your explant under general. Horrific.
Are you going to sue the 'butcher' who did this to you? maybe when your feeling much better.
You mustve been through so many emotions, id be so angry right now, but feel your in the right caring hands now.
Hope you feel this way with your new surgeon.
Best wishes Sha-x-x

Re: Corrective surgery for me in 3 months
Thanks A & FB, i am so lucky, it was a private consultation not NHS and i never expected him to turn around and say at the end i did not have to pay him a penny to be fixed, i was totally
and it proves he is not just saying two ops etc just for the money, he was genuinely very concerned & very thorough. He works in the NHS hospital for plastic Surgery at a burns unit so specialises in repair work etc, he does private cosmetic surgery then also so for him to say it would be covered on the NHS for me was so relieving to say the least, it's probably because it's disfigured i should imagine. I feel totally safe now.
I'm not sure about sueing, the surgeon & my GP has offered to support me in doing so if i go ahead so i'm being backed 100% medically, i don't know if i can do it though.
I would never have gone through with any of this if it wasn't for the support & encouragement i have had on here, thanks girls xx

Re: Corrective surgery for me in 3 months
Aw thanks girls, i have got to the stage where i really don't mind waiting as long as i'm not disfigured for life, i no longer hate my breast and have come to terms with the fact it is like it is because it has not been cared for properly and treated quite badly so i am ok with it now.
When i hated it i just wanted the implant put back in and didn't think of the consequences that could have caused in the long run.
I'm going to enjoy the summer and not wish it away just so i can have my breast fixed.
With you all there for me i know if i have down days you'll be there to pick me up!
Goog ol' BJS babes xx xx
