Haha this is why I wish I was at uni, I'm still catching up at college so I can't get grants or loans but I know where it'd go if I could... >8D budget budget budget though! Just think, you're finally gonna get the boobs! x
Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!
Ooh I know but the sheer AMOUNT. It's just hitting me and I'm chickening out... I should have paid little bits over time so I wouldn't notice it! Lol. Best do it asap before I change my mind...
...please someone tell me it's worth every penny lol

That's the exact phrase I've heard over and over again on here lol. If it'll make you more confident and all, you'll be able to live the 'real' student life for a little while ;D x
Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!
Lindylou-OMG-I paid for my BA the same way! I got my refund from loans back the first week of October, but had to wait for winter break to have the BA-It was the LONGEST 3 months of my life! LOL-Too friggen funny-if only my financial advisor knew what I REALLY did with that money! LOL ;)

Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!
mrsrimmer - remember LindyLou hasn't been given extra money specifically for it - if she spends this money on the BA, she's still going to have to cut back on other things, so she'll still be making sacrifices and working for it that way. And besides, loans still have to be paid back anyway; again, she's not just been handed the money on a plate. We all have different circumstances and different reasons for wanting the op, you know?
Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!

Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!
It's just after wanting this for so long it's finally here and this really finalises it and makes it real!
I feel sick, excited, and like I could cry at any second. I can't believe the wait is finally going to be over!!!

ps. MrsR... uh what???!! Just for your record: I'm going to uni to earn a degree to get the best career I can and make the most of myself. Trust me it's a difficult degree that I've thrown myself into, recieved all 1st's so far for every piece of coursework... even with 2 children under 2 years! I've been saving my a** off for you don't know how long, but my LOANS (that I have to pay back) are just getting me over the finishing line. Regardless, I shouldn't have to come here and justify myself.
Let's see if we can all enjoy our (different) journeys together without being judgmental... I think that's why we're all here. :dunno:

Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!
One of the other girls on here managed to get an extra £4000 put on her mortgage when she bought a new house - and why not??? Especially as the interest rates are so low. Paying from a student grant is pretty much the same - take advantage of the low interest rate available.
Perhaps we should be directing our venom at the bank executives who take £MILLIONS in bonuses whilst charging lenders high interest rates and paying savers an absolute pittance on the money which is deposited with them. Or the MP's who were illegally claiming for absolutely everything on their expense accounts (despite their already huge salaries) and fiddling the public who were (and are) taxed to the hilt and don't have the luxury of claiming for these things.
........... and no, I don't have any particular ax to grind here, I was lucky in that I have saved all my life for my retirement fund and I decided to use part of that to fund my own operation.
xx

Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!
I too feel that it is a huge amount of money and I've had struggles with myself over what I'm spending it on, but I've had mine set aside for some time now until the time was right and if I don't go for it now I know I will regret it BIG TIME.
Lindylou, it sounds like you're working hard for a great future for you and your kids - you should be very, very proud of yourself xxx

Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!
To be fair for most people it`s do it when the chance comes, if that means using your grant then so be it!. Or credit card or loan who cares you are the one resonsable for paying out the cash from somewhere at the end (the slower the better if it means a lower rate of interest). I cashed in my ISA which was for new windows sod the windows for a couple of years i`ve wanted and needed boobies for 20 years. Got them now and don`t even notice the windows need changing ha ha .x

Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!
OMG-I am SHOCKED at Ms. Rimmer's BS comment-WTF-It is up to us to pay this however we want-And LindyLou-I think that my comment about me paying the same way and fibbing to my advisor about my expenses (just verbally, not like a sworn signed statement-LOL), is what flamed Ms. Rimmer up to say that, as she said it right after my post! I also have 2 children, and work my ass off to go to school-WE DESERVE IT! If I still had my pre-baby tummy, I would strip my ass off every night for the money instead, and use that-Would that matter? School is hard work-and now LindyLou, Me, and whoever else does it this way, has to struggle without that $-When you go to school full-time, and have kids, it BARELY leaves time to work a job-What else can we do-
Its not like we are out prostituting our bodies on the street for the money (any BJSF hookers, please don't get offended-LOL)-but even if we were-ITS OUR PREROGOTIVE! Sounds like Ms. Rimmer is JEALOUS-, and wishes she either 1. thought of it herself 2. went to university for a degree at all!
Congrats Lindylou-I know getting the money made it feel "really real "for me LOL- xx

Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!
Think you are all being a little hard on Mrs Rimmer here - everyone is entitled to an opinion - some people are spenders and some are savers. Over the years I have mentioned to my husband borrowing the money for a BA and telling the mortgage company it is for an "Extension" - just to me and not the house!

Re: Just checked bank and almost fainted!!
@jellytot-I hear ya! I just think that it could have been put more delicately, as to not rain on Lindlou's parade! She was SO excited in her post-and it is hard, if not impossible for some to save. If the post had been mine, I probably would not have bothered replying-but I felt the need to stick up for a fellow Mom, student, and "spender"! II know how excited I was when my loans came in-just didn't wanna let anyone spoil her excitment-So-my apologies Ms. Rimmer, everyone IS entitled to their opinion, and I suppose I let mine get the best of me. XX
PS Lindylou-You go girl! :)
