Sports bras/Underwire ... Keeping them up high
So iv seen on JBI that alot of surgeons recommend that to stop implants dropping anymore that they should wear underwires. Even Dr Revis in US who is meant to be one of the best recommends it.
Im just wondering if anyone here has been told to do so?
Obviously having 700cc im worried about sagging & wondering if wearing a underwire will support them & keep them in the place I want & the pocket will heal when they are higher as I dont want them to drop anymore..?

i dunno, id go with what your own surgeon recommends tbh. I imagine a good sports bra would keep them in place far more than an underwire.
My surgeon suggested my bra was the reason mine didnt drop properly

I think the reason why surgeons recommend that you don't wear underwired immediately afterwards is to prevent the wire from digging into the scar and opening it up again as this area will remain 'weak' until it is fully healed. But it would be best to discuss this with your surgeon - and possibly point him to what other PS's are currently thinking about it (if you can provide him with internet URL's which discuss this, all the better)

Re: Sports bras/Underwire ... Keeping them up high
My ps told me to stop wearing my sports bra and go bra-less a bit to let my (unders) boobies relax and drop a bit. I think that was to allow the implant shape a chance to fall into a more natural shape. He also said that he'd stitched my stitches onto my ribs (I'm guessing. o offer additional support and help them keep their shape long term? Based on this, I would guess that the higher and more 'in place' you keep them now, the more likely they'll stay their long-term?

No idea personally, but I'm guessing that particular surgeon's recommendation will contribute to that particular surgeon's results. If you've seen your surgeon's work in similar sizes on other girls who've had them for a while and you like it, then I'm guessing his method must work =] perhaps you could ask to speak to a former patient? x
Re: Sports bras/Underwire ... Keeping them up high
Also tizzyt makes a good point - if you had a crease incision it's probably different to transauxillary or TUBA, not sure about areolar x
Re: Sports bras/Underwire ... Keeping them up high
i would follow your surgeons advice hun. You paid for him and his advice because you were happy with his work so do as he recommends. Your boobs look fab!

I havnt actually spoken to him about sports bras... I just assumed all surgeons say the say as everyone on here says 6+ weeks.
Just I saw that some girls in US had been told to wear underwires to stop them dropping lower.

I think most say 6 weeks but some say longer, some say less, some use stabiliser straps and some don't.

Laura - I get what you're saying. I think when you've had larger implants, you're more concerned with them *not* dropping rather than say unders which need to drop to look more natural.
Why not call your PC and ask if it's ok to wear one? Would you be comfortable in a wired bra? The one I tried on today was super comfy but only cos I have no crease scars.
I think wearing a supportive bra of any type will help with them dropping so just make sure they're always supported!!

Hey alt_barbie. Im still pre ba but I just had my pre op yesterday and that was exactly what they told me. They said that once my boobs dropped to where I liked to let them know n they would let me start wearing the underwire bra so the pocket heals and holds them right where they're at and won't drop any more. I hope that helps.

Haha! Look @ your avatar em! I was like whos that with the tattoos oh its u!
I dont think it would be comfortable now as my stitches are still playing up.. I think I will give them a call & ask. Obviously I will wait for my other boob to catch up with the other one but once they look the same Im gonna make sure they dont go anywhere lol

Lol I know - you can't really see all my ink cos I don't have a lot on my chest it's all my arms! I love my new bra! I am going to do the exact same thing. My rightie has dropped a fair bit now, I reckon another 2 weeks or so and I will start wearing normal bras again. I am wearing a non wired bra now, not a sports or anything, just normal but with no wires. No much nicer!!

I guess as you dont have a crease incision then its fine.
My nursing bra has moulded cups, I actually find it more supportive then my sports bra.
Just hurts my stitches a bit so dont wear it unless im going out somewhere nice.

I don't know is this will help but a lady on a forum I visit has had her boobs for 7years and she she said she weas a bra everyday and night to bed and they still look they way they looked after her surgery. The only time she goes without a bra is in the bath or shower and those special sexy times lol

Re: Sports bras/Underwire ... Keeping them up high
Id give your clinic a call & see what they say............the normal id say is sports bra till 6 weeks post-op as wirers before can do damage to the scars that are healing if the wores rub & dig in them....some girls are told to stay in sports bras for 3 months...i personally could have done that as it would have drove me crazy!.
If you have big implants sagging is going to happen no matter what type of bra you wear but the more your in a bra the slow gravity will take effect ...........i would also say that when it comes to bras a wired one is far more uplifting & supporting then a non wored bra and i find sports bras althou they keep them in place really push my boobs downwards & i cant help feel that thats not going to help with the saggin!...........
I never wear a sports bra anymore due to this & feel that althou they keep my boobs in place they dont offer any upliftng support for me

This is how I feel about mine.. It squashes them down rather then lifting them up.
The other bras I have feel alot more supportive.

I can totally see what your saying as I feel the same but I would give the clinic a call just to check how long your ment to be in a sports bra.......................all i now is that the wires rub on the wound that healing & it could cause damage
