Best Post Op bra to buy?
Hiya,
I'm having my BA in feb and was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent post op bra.
I am having my BA with transform and they have said not to get the bras which are front fastening which would surely rule out the Royce silver and the Macom bras as they fasten at the front.
I must admit they were slightly expensive anyway but I was willing to buy one and then get a few cheaper ones from somewhere else.
Help please xx

I'm surprised they said no front fastening as I was recommended the M&S zip front sports bra by my surgeon and a lot of girls on here. As it is found it a little uncomfy and am instead wearing the M&S total support post op bra. It's very comfortable and fastens at the back.

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
The general consensus of opinion would appear to be get at least one band size larger for immediately post op as your rib cage will be swollen immediately after the op - especially if you are having overs (in which case you might even get 2 band sizes larger). I went with THG and they recommend at least a full support bra - other clinics recommend high impact sports bras - so ask you clinic what they are recommending.
So buy a few, but keep the tags on, so that you can return any which you haven't used - and no need to go expensive.
I bought a couple of FS bras from M&S and also a couple of special post op bras from Asda (which were quite cheap).
Don't forget to add a ticker so we can all celebrate your countdown and if, you haven't done so already, don't forget to add your date to the calendar so that we can send you good wishes just before your big day.

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
I used the asda sports bra which was back fastening. I also used a Z bra but that is front fastening.
Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
i got told that as well..... no front fastening and full support or sports bra...
which transform you going with?
i got a few cheap ones which are fab for straight after but there isnt much support in them.... so i would recommend the shock absorbers, are fab! think its a level 4 i have..... they are pretty expensive but i bought mine on ebay, i paid no more than £8-£11 and they still had there tags on!
:good:
oh... i went up a back size

I also went with transform & paid £20 pre op to have a nurse fit me with a macon front fastening. It was way 2 big & I only wore it the first day, although if it had fitted beter I found it v comfy. So if u go with that option, make sure it's fitted properly! I prefer the front fastening & am using the z bra (£35!!) and m&s zip front(£20). Both can be ordered on line. Make sure 2 order a variety of sizes & just return the ones that don't fit. Good luck, who is doing your op? xx

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
I just ordered this on last night for my BA next week (first week in strapping, bra goes on second week)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Although its quite expensive you don't have to worry about cup size and I've orderd the medium which fits 31-34" ribcage measurement - I am 31" now so this should deal with swelling - figured this would work out the same as buying a few different band sizes and cup sizes.

Hi hun, it looks a nice bra, although it's only lightweight support. Are you having unders? It will prob be ok, might be worth getting a cheap one with highimpact support aswell for those "feeling like they're gonna fall off" days
Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
You'll need at least 2 or 3 pet - as you will be wearing it for 24 hours so you need a spare whilst you wash & dry the one you've just worn

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
Thanks for you of your replies! I think I am going to look on eBay and see if I can get a few of the shock absorber bras in a level 4 as they seem good and within my budget. And maybe a few from Asda. Someone told me a while ago that Matalan sold good quality post op bras too.
I am having my op with Mr Khan and I'm having 310 or 365 extra high profile - overs. I'm currently a 32c. I didn't know that transform could fit you with a bra at my pre op so I'll ask them about that. It's just I am having my pre op on 21st feb and my op is on 25th - so doesn't leave me much time to shop inbetween x I'm getting so nervous now and I still have 7 weeks to go. x

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
Oh and I really like the look of the M&S zip front but they said no front fastening for a few weeks so maybe I could get this one for after.
Would anyone recommend to continue to sleep in these bras even after the 6 weeks is up? To keep them fully supported as much as I can? I'm having overs so thought I could maybe get a medium support for night instead of wearing a normal bra (I've never been able to sleep without one on at all)
Sorry for all the questions xx

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
I have been advised to buy the macom (spell?) front fastening bra, apparently it swells with you then shrinks to fit as the swelling goes down. It also goes quite a bit below the boobs so it doesn't rub the scars. Anyone had this bra? They said it's £30 which is a bit dear but worth it if it's going to be the best.

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
I still find my asda £6 low impact sports bra the most comfortable - I have got the M & S front zip (but then you can't use an bra extender if you need to). I only had 300 cc unders so not that huge and I suppose having unders acts a bit like an internal bra - maybe you need a high impact bra (like the M & S one) if you have large overs. Good luck x

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
The macom bra would have been nice if it wasn't too big so make sure they fit u properly. My nurse just brought one bra in 2 my room & popped it on. I had Mr Khan for a re BA (done 17 yrs ago) & a donut lift. V pleased so far with the results.Good luck! Ru going to riverside? x

Yep at the Abbey Riverside! So glad you are pleased with Khan's work. I've not spoken to many girls who have had him for their op yet. I've heard Riverside is lovely. x

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
Queenie - I see you are having a re-op due to old implants - I have had Allergan Naterelles since Xmas and they have a life time guarantee - my surgeon said they should last 15 - 17 years - I know I'm being really thick here but why won't they last a lifetime? Is it that my body will change and the size I have now won't be right and if you hadn't had CC would be be changing your implants now?

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
jellytot the implants probably will last a lifetime, but you body will change so they might not look as good in 15+ years, so we might be wanting re-ops to keep them looking perky, that's how I understand it. But if you have no problems with them there's no need to change them.
SJG Mr Khan is good, I've seen lots of pics of work he's done and they all looked really good, he was my second choice if I didn't go with who I did. :-)
The sports bra I found best is Gorgeous by Debenhams, it does up at the back, I've got 3 of them and still sleep in them to this day, I don't know if we are supposed to but I want to do everything I can to look after the new boobies.

Re: Best Post Op bra to buy?
Thanks mrsm - I ordered a gorgeous by debenhams sports bra today. they looked like the nicest ones and had good reviews. It felt funny ordering a 34DD when I'm still only a 32C. just hope it fits - I'm worrying it'll be too tight. I think I should order the 34E too x
