can I moisturize scars after 3 weeks
hi girls,
I hope you can help me on this one. My scars are healing beautifully, already just a fine line with just the odd little 'pink bit'....what I'm wondring is can I moisturise them now (3 weeks post op) I was encouraged to massage boobies after 1st week so they are lovely and soft and moisturised now but I'm desperate to treat my scar and surrounding area with some lovely moisture as they are looking a little dry. Is it advisable or should I speak to my clinic?

I was told not to put anything on my scars until 6 weeks. Check with your clinic hun - all surgeons give different advice.

thanks girls, it's all conflicting isn't it? It seems lots of surgeons have different views on aftercare. I'll call my nurse at the clinic later I think. By the way, the snowflakes on here are pretty aren't they, getting excited about xmas now, lots of lovely new bras and tops on santa's list (well the list I'm preparing for my hubby) hehe!!!

I think that's the best thing to do hun.
Everybody heals differently and until you get the all clear to use anything on your scars from your clinic/surgeon then it's best to leave them well alone to avoid the risk of infection hun. xxx

Re: can I moisturize scars after 3 weeks
hey hunny, i was told to massage them to break down the scar tissue after 2 weeks if they are not to painful but not to treat scars until 6 weeks to ensure that they are fully healed otherwise it can cause infection if the skin is not healed. I think it would be best to confirm with your nurse or PC. I think it is all conflicting as we have all been with different companies. I had mine done by MYA and they are fantastic with after care. They are very well known for looking after you after your BA. :-)

Re: can I moisturize scars after 3 weeks
thanks again girls for all your advice, my scars have definately closed - just a fine line now!! I think the fact that they are doing so well on their own I decided not to mess with nature, if I was advised to start moisturising and they took a turn for the worse in some way.....if it's not broken, don't fix it, as the saying goes!!!

i was told to keep my pinkys and mosterizer away from my scars for at least 6weeks. you can massarge anywhere else but just not your scars, as your still at risk of infection.. i would personnel wait till you see your surgeon and he gives you the go ahead... xx
