Just a thought about responsibility for PIPs
I've just been trawling through some links in my bookmarks and was looking through some MHRA ones and this quote really stuck out.
Quote from HERE
I'm probably clutching at straws here but might this be worth mentioning to your solicitor?
The fact that the MHRA actually claims responsibility for the implants used in this country? - Had they been responsible and conducted the tests before the problems had risen which they clearly didn't then PIP would never have been allowed to be used here in the first instance.. there was clearly no regulation on these PIPs and therefore as the MHRA takes responsibilty for them shouldn't they be held liable?
The MHRA is responsible for ensuring that breast implants meet appropriate standards of safety, quality and performance, and that they comply with the Medical Devices Directive.

Good point Cookie, might be worth mentioning. I guess it depends on the small print, as with everything.
Thanks xx

I stumbled across this also and cant believe the way they have handled this situation, I think they are just clutching at straws and hoping and praying that the last test proves to be non conclusive and if it isn't then that is when the s*** will hit the fan x

Yeah there does seem to be a lot hanging on the French tests. Bet the MHRA are bricking it...well I hope they are!
Maybe they should think about the old 'woman' and 'scorned' saying...would like to see the fury of 50,000!!

I couldn't find a single disclaimer on the website babe.
It just made me think because the product manufacturer are bankrupt so no chance of pursuing a claim there. The clinics claim they too are the victim as they sold a product they believed to be safe (I know... laughable that one isn't it!) so that leaves the MHRA and as they did not do what they clearly advertise they should have done - ensured that the product complied with Medical Devices Directive... even now prior to even getting the rest of the french report surely they should be held responsible?
Re: Just a thought about responsibility for PIPs
What gets to me is the reports / medical alerts that date all the way back to 2000. If they had even a slight hint of a problem back then why did it take 10 years to recall them?

Re: Just a thought about responsibility for PIPs
Ive seen discussions online dating back to just before my op so i am dissapointed that the clinics were still using them at this time. I think everyone has a responsibility, ultimately we are the ones who have suffered for it, if the clinics feel they have suffered it is up to them if they want to make a claim of their own, no concern of ours. xx
ps. have seen pics of my ruptured implant, the shell was ripped all over, but luckily the silicone stayed quite central. Still shocking to see though.
